Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Jones
Hi Mia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been photographing ever since I was a young child. My mother always tells the story of how I was around 3 years old and “not cutting off the top of people’s heads.” To her, that was a big deal. I never really thought about that being a skill. Throughout the years, though, I have progressed in my artistic abilities and skills. I even got one of my photos published in a literary review! My mother helped me to create my photography business that is Nojo Photography after I had just graduated from college. Since then, I have photographed all kinds of community events, parties, and worked with LA County. In addition to photography, I have also found myself being a fashion stylist, fashion designer, singer, songwriter, and even interior decorator.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle that I have dealt with has been having faith in my abilities and dealing with a tad of imposter syndrome. I’m a Virgo and I am incredibly self critical. So when an audience experiences my work, I still look at the things that “could have been better” even when they’re singing my praises.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Although I mostly known for photographing events and parties, I absolutely love landscape and cityscape! What sets me apart is my eye. The way I view my surroundings, the world.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Any and everyone that has been around me and my family for a while can attest that I was a very happy and relaxed child. I didn’t really ever get into trouble and my name was never in any story about some shenanigans. My interests have always been in the realm of artistry and, honestly, stardom and having fun. When “Bring It On” came out, I wanted to be a cheerleader. When “American Idol” came out, I wanted to be on the show and win (and I have tried out many times as singing and music is my #1 love)! When “America’s Next Top Model” came out, I wanted to be a model. I would even bug my mother to watch my runway walk.
