Meet Gabriela Recalde of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Recalde

Hi Gabriela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Asunción, Paraguay, I migrated to the United States as an au pair to learn English and pursue my passion for fashion. While studying in San Francisco, I started a blog as a school project, which quickly gained attention from brands and led to collaborations and opportunities. I honed my skills working as a dresser, and styling assistant for top retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus, and later in sales and visual merchandising at Anthropologie all while working as a nanny. After exploring various roles in fashion, I decided to focus on my blog full-time and eventually launched my own clothing brand, which showcases traditional Paraguayan ñanduti lace to support local artisans. As a content creator, I aim to empower and grow the Latino community through my work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I overcame numerous challenges to pursue my fashion dreams. Initially, I struggled to learn English while keeping up with college coursework. Balancing two jobs – as an au pair and in fashion – was a constant challenge. Financial constraints forced me to take on multiple roles, making it difficult to focus solely on fashion. Later, transitioning to a full-time content creator was daunting due to my unfamiliarity with the field. Additionally, I faced the emotional toll of being alone, without family support, and navigating the complexities of immigrant life, all while shouldering the financial burdens that came with it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a full-time content creator, influencer, and designer, I partner with brands to promote products through my channel and audience, creating engaging UGC for marketing purposes. I’m also the founder of my own clothing brand, collaborating with Paraguayan artisans to showcase traditional craftsmanship. What drives me is being a proud Paraguayan immigrant, working tirelessly to achieve my dreams and inspire others. My unique blend of cultural heritage and professional expertise sets me apart, as I’m one of the few Paraguayans in the US making a mark in the fashion industry.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
As a self-taught influencer, I’ve navigated the ever-changing industry of content creation on my own terms, driven by passion and determination. Behind the scenes, I’m grateful for the unwavering support of my husband and loved ones, who empower me to pursue my dreams as a creator and designer. Their encouragement fuels my creativity and motivation to succeed in the fashion industry.
