Conversations with Paul Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Williams

Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I would say my story really got started in 2014 when I decided to change careers. Before then I worked in the corporate world starting off as a Personal Banker in my early 20s, and later on I spent a number of years as an Admissions Counselor at a couple different universities in DC. Then one day, I randomly had an epiphany about how regretful I would be in my older years if I never actually pursued my real dream of becoming an actor. Needless to say, the epiphany was incredibly impactful because soon after, I quit my career, sold my belongings, and drove across the country to LA. It was a dream that I had since early childhood, but it never felt realistic or responsible to go after. In the first 2 years, I lived in my car for months on 3 different occasions just to train and pay for acting school. I guess I just had a deep desire to make up for lost time because learning the techniques were way more important than having a roof over my head at the time. Then early on during my pursuits, I stumbled across a book by Neville Goddard called Awakened Imagination and it literally changed my life. It really opened up my spiritual side, and I’ve been combining my spiritual awareness/abilities with my professional and personal life ever since. Thankfully since 2014, I’ve had the privilege of training with some amazing teachers, worked on a number of feature films and television shows, and spent a year in NYC working in theater and improv.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There definitely have been many struggles along the way. Confidence was a very huge hurdle only on. Pursuing a dream you have no experience in while most of your peers have had a decade or more in the same industry really was hard to overcome. Opening up emotionally as a man, after being raised with toxic masculinity really made feeling and showing emotions extremely difficult. Relationships in many dynamics were sometimes hard to maintain because of the dedication and the study that this career required. We also can’t forget living in a car too. Finding neighborhoods to park and feel safe at night, keeping it a secret from everyone I knew, and sleeping with half my body in the trunk and the other half spread out on folded backseats was extremely hard at times. The experience was incredibly humbling. Never as hard as sleeping in a tent or on the street by any means, so that always kept me grateful for what I did have. In the end though, it was my spiritual practices that got me through all of the obstacles. It started with meditation. lectures from balanced and spiritually led individuals, countless books, and then eventually my own intuition, guides, and ancestors. It really taught me that learning and being a student of life will get you through anything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently the two fields that I specialize in are Acting, and Intuitive Coaching. With acting I’ve appeared on The Upshaws, East New York, The Grammy’s, and a lot of other amazing projects. I still have a couple films due out this year, and I’m very excited for them too. In one, I got the chance to play my first villain and it’s going to be really cool for audiences to see a completely different side of me. Now even though it is my acting career that has provided me with so many priceless opportunities, I would actually probably say it’s the intuitive coaching that I’m the most proud of. It’s work that has forced me confront my own shadows, face my traumas, heal my inner child, learn forgiveness, unconditional love, and balance my masculine and feminine energies in positive and expansive ways. It’s been a long journey through it all, and the growth is never truly done once you’re on the path, and I mean that in the best possible way. Through that work and those experiences I’ve been able to empathize and connect with countless others on similar paths of expansion and healing. To get to witness people grow, and change not only their own lives, but the lives of the people around them has been fulfilling beyond words. It requires a deep level of trust between them and I that I don’t take for granted. That’s led me to start sharing my work on social media these last 8 months and the reception has been really welcoming and supportive. So much so that now I’m taking my work from the last decade, and writing my own books. To think, it all started with acting…

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Who doesn’t deserve credit would be the real question. This might not be the norm, but I think first and foremost it would probably have to be my ex-wife that I’m still cool with to this day actually. We we’re each other’s rock and foundation through many storms in life, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her. My family, and best friends have been supportive beyond comprehension for many years, and real accountability partners in this crazy game we call life. Lisa Gal who repped and believed in me for years and years, way before I even made her a dime as a manager. My current reps Deb and Tina who take very good care of me, and look out for me on a number of fronts. My acting teachers who have pushed me FAR beyond my comfort zones in the best possible ways, and also my supporters now who continue to push me on a daily basis in sharing my work with them. They all really do have my eternal gratitude.
