Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilou Grasser
Hi Lilou, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been creative, by making step motion with my dolls, crafts or dancing!
As I grew up with social media, I saw the opportunity to share my passion.
At the same time, I was working with kids in resort and recreation center and got the chance to share with them my creativity.
After 5 years of sharing and spreading my “world” of dance, video making, singing, painting…. in France, I wanted to take another step and move to LA.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wouldn’t be an achievement if there are not obstacles.
The Covid had been a huge factor in my childcare career. In fact, I was supposed to work in Los Angeles but because of the Covid I stayed in the recreation center during that period.
That’s how after that I decided to explore more about this job and became a seasonal worker. Beside that, it pushed me to start training as a director and pursue my path in childcare and development.
It’s when I look back at it, that this door that closed because of the Covid makes all sense. I was meant to open another one.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main job at the moment is special, there is no translation in English but to be clear I work with kids and teenagers in recreation center, camp and resort.
I entertain kids between 4 and 17years old with activities ( sport, craft, art..).
I started doing it as a seasonal job in big “holidays village” ( resort ) because of the opportunity of doing dance/ acting show, entertain adults with parties, casino night, tournaments…
I am proud of my evolution and the impact I can have on this new kids generation!
I also started becoming a manager and director of recreation center. This is a whole new role and I enjoyed discovering this side of the job too.
As a dancer, artist, sporty and joyful person I can say I’m a good person to have in your team. I have a lot of knowledge about kids development and all the activities they can be happy to do.
So far, I build a strong career for that job.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I like to read fantasy books to keep my imagination always creative, most of them are in French but the most famous internationally would be “Uglies”.
My main resources are from the street : I love to dance in the street with my friends. We all have our own dance signature and it’s always enriching to discover new moves.
I also love to go to some concert or even playing ukulele.
Time to times, I like to walk around in some museums or street art.
Job and career are important but as a dancer and artist, that’s how I escape from the routine.
