Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In the aftermath of divorce I chose to turn turmoil into treasures by becoming a Stand-up Comedian…..I used my life experiences as a Wife and Mother to channel my healing through humor. My comedic journey began by placing in the finals of Nickelodeon’s America’s Funniest Moms…… that led to corporate events and comedy clubs. Performing both Adult and Family-friendly comedy I have been given the amazing opportunity to bring laughter to some amazing crowds from California all the way to Hawaii. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road…..there’s alot of nepotism and that means the rest of us have to work our way up one stage at a time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from being a professional standup Comedian…. I also work as Clarabelle The Clown at Birthday parties and hospitals….I am a Hostess/MC for family reunions and all events, a baker/party planner and a MUA….My determination sets me apart from others. I don’t have sponsors….so I have multiple streams of income to continue in the quest to keep Carly Carr on the map.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The industry has changed….however some clubs still accept hardworking comics based on their merits not who they know. It would be nice if some of the more exclusive clubs gave opportunities to all comics to audition and get booked based on their talents alone….
