Daily Inspiration: Meet Marisol Tafolla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Tafolla

Hi Marisol, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been filled with many serendipitous moments coupled with lots of hard work. I immigrated to the US at the age of twenty with my children, without knowing how to speak English and having only finished primary school in Mexico. I am a survivor of domestic violence which would push my children and I into a shelter for survivors of DV. During this time, I began taking English classes and learned the power of therapy. For years, I worked two jobs to make ends meet. Until I was presented the opportunity to work at an insurance agency. From there I self taught myself how to use computer softwares while continuing to attend night school to learn english. Eventually, I decided it was time to start my own agency which has been running since 2016-helping me achieve financial stability.

In 2020, like many others, I found myself for the first time in my life with a rare moment to reflect. I got the urge to share my story primarily for other women who are or once were in similar situations. I decided to start writing my book with absolutely zero idea on how publishing worked. I learned to let go of the “how”. By 2021, I finished writing the manuscript and I was in search of a publisher. I emailed multiple publishers and editors with hope it would eventually stick somewhere-and it did. By 2022, I had my book launch first digitally and then the physical copy would be debuted at the International Book Fair of Guadalajara Mexico- one of the biggest international book fairs. I now am a certified coach, and work with women to support their healing journey through a holistic approach.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road, however, I the barriers and challenges have deeply shaped my approach as a coach. I entered the workforce in the US with a minimal grasp of English, being undocumented, and in a male dominated field of insurance. My first jobs at insurance agencies I experienced sexual harassment and a coercive hostile environment. Often employers would take advantage of the fact I was undocumented and misinformed on my rights as an employee. Insurance is a male-dominated field and starting my own agency was a tough road. Nonetheless, I could no longer stand being doubted and I channeled that energy as determination to succeed. In my venture now as a coach, breaking into a new field has brought on a different set of hurdles. Tapping into the Latino immigrant community and addressing mental health issues is one. Working with Latina women who are seeking personal and professional growth has allowed me leverage my experience as tools to support their journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Of course, I would love for people to know that I take supporting women’s healing journeys to heart because I was once someone who did not think she could make it. My work is to use my story as a standing example to other aspiring women entrepreneurs in their forties to know there is room for us.
I am a mentor and coach specializing in women’s inner growth and healing both in the US and abroad, an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and published author. Drawing from my life experiences as a survivor of domestic violence, an immigrant, and business owner to now sharing my story internationally. What sets me apart is the method I created, R.E.N.A.C.E Method, a holistic approach that guides women through recognizing, exploring, nurturing, and acting on their deepest needs and desires. I have also published a book detailing my journey, sharing my story with other survivors in hopes that they can feel seen and understand that healing and transformation are truly possible.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I learned to lead with my intuition and my passion and use them as a compass to support my businesses. Additionally, keeping a curious eye to be able to recognize opportunities.
