Life & Work with Yesenia Espinoza of Orange, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yesenia Espinoza

Hi Yesenia , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Of course, I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty space but wasn’t sure in what way. I tried attending cosmetology school before but it was too pricey. As someone who grew up in a single parent household, we couldn’t afford my dream to get into cosmetology school.

I started my career as a content creator in 2019, I decided to create a page and started to post all things beauty related. I wasn’t sure where it would take me, but it has brought amazing opportunities like be part of a campaigns, receive PR, and attend beauty events, but most importantly connect with other creators who are as passionate as myself about creating content.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road, I work a full time job in mental health field so sometimes juggling all of it can be overwhelming. The first few years I wouldn’t post as consistently and always left for periods of time. Also there are times where self-doubt comes in and I overthink my posts, but seeing the support from my community makes me want to keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in mental health field as my full time career but in the makeup creative space I freelance from time to time, I film for my page and have received some paid collaborations with several brands.
I am most proud of getting chosen to be part of campaign for skincare brand Boscia very early on my career. Also I was recently part of campaign for jewelry business Gabulous LA a Latina owned brand.

What sets me apart from others is my creativity with makeup and giving honest reviews on makeup products.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Oh yes there is several blogs that motivate me to continue creating. Also it is amazing to see other people who once had a smaller following now have a ton of following and be succeeding in what they love doing.

To name a few they are Samvay, juicyjas, Taylor Wynn. They are all on YouTube.
