Rising Stars: Meet Molly Swing of Pacific Palisades

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Swing

Hi Molly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Today I work in residential real estate here in Los Angeles. My professional backround begins with landing my first job out of college working for Guess Jeans Corporate. I worked directly for the Paul Marciano, President of Guess, Inc. I was on his in house Advertising team during the campaigns of Claudia Schiffer, Anna Nicole Smith, and Drew Barrymore most notably. I placed all of his advertising in magazines, billboards, and bus shelters.
It was during those 4 years that I cultivated relationships with all the publishing houses and went on to launch magazines for Ticket Master and ultimately Conde Nast Publications, selling advertising space.
I took a break for about 10 years to be a stay at home Mom of 3 boys, John, Mikey, and Brendan. In 2013 I opened up a luxury resale boutique in Pacific Palisades, I had a successful run but shuttered during Covid in 2020 and continued selling live on instagram on a show called “Molly Mondays” with Bravo’s King of Resale Christos Garkinos for one year and then parted ways to pursue a second act in another dream I always had which was to sell luxury real estate. While studying for my real estate license, I kept busy and opened up a 6000 sf contemporary art gallery with my husband and Artist, Guerin Swing, in downtown Los Angeles in the Landmark Trust building called Swing Street Gallery in August of 2022. It was only supposed to be a pop up but it lasted one year and was wildly successful.
In September 2022, I joined my son’s real estate team, The McNicholas Group at Compass in Santa Monica an have been practicing real estate ever since cultivating my career in the Luxury Lifestyle and Real Estate space.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. I was hit with two major challenges when I had my store. The first challenge took place in 2016 when Developer Rick Caruso demolished the retail section of the Palisades to ultimately create what is now Palisades Village. The one building he was not able to purchase was the building my store was in. He tore everything down around it and my store stood in the middle of a construction zone for 2 years. This presented a massive financial hit for which i barely recovered from. The second challenge was the onset of covid which essentially took me down so I had to shutter my store and change gears.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is when I am asked for something by a client, I know how to show up and execute. I know how to bring a project to the finish line. I turn ideas into hard core realities. I make things happen. I am most proud of landing every job I ever went for in the corporate world, building a luxury resale business out of my pool house and ultimately creating a brick and mortar boutique in Pacific Palisades, and launching Swing Street Gallery, a 6000 SF contemporary art gallery in DTLA with my husband, Los Angeles Artist Guerin Swing, Finally joining my oldest son John McNicholas’ real estate team at Compass and realizing my dream of selling Los Angeles Luxury Real Estate. My Next chapter.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
First and foremost watching my children John, Mikey, and Brendan succeed as young adults. Also just creating and watching people benefiting from ideas I put into motion. Making people feel good whether that means sharing my knowledge on something that would change their lives to finding them the home of their dreams. Last but not least, being an integral part of the success of my husband, Guerin Swing’s Art Career with his most recent debut of his art on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine’s August 2024 issue! The Best of L.A.
