Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In late 2022, I started to notice a trend in the public relations industry: stagnation. While our colleagues in similar fields like marketing and advertising were embracing amazing changes brought on by technology, social media, and the digital landscape, most of the PR agencies I had worked with over the past 10 years were stuck in some version of the early 2000s, some even actively rejecting tools that could help them – and their clients – achieve greater rates of efficiency and success.
When artificial intelligence bounded onto the world stage just a few months later, I knew this new tool was going to be transformative for the PR industry and wasn’t something I wanted to ignore at a traditional PR agency. I approached my good friend Mark and, combining my experiences in public relations and marketing with his expertise as an actor and writer, we started to brainstorm about how we could embrace AI and the many, many other 21st century tools that most PR agencies were neglecting. In October of 2023, The Excellence Agency was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. From funding to business development, the entire public relations industry is in a slump in 2024. Since PR is a aspect of business that traditionally hasn’t yielded measurable ROI, many businesses, talent, and organizations are looking at their PR agency as the first vendor on the chopping block during tough economic times.
But, we aren’t letting that hold us back. By embracing tools like AI metrics and affiliate programs, we’re showing our clients that PR is a tool that they can use to fast-track name recognition and brand growth, and utilizing that fact to grow our portfolio.
We’ve been impressed with The Excellence Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

At Excellence, we’re also advocates of doing good. I’m proud to say that we donate 10% of our annual profits each year to non-profit organizations and we also run a small but mighty pro-bono program for cause-based groups to help them build their support bases.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In 2o20, I began working with an Australian fashion retailer, Petal & Pup, where I met Chantel Rowell. Chantel oversaw all of the brand’s marketing and communications teams and within just a few days of meeting her, I knew she had a unique perspective on PR. Chantel’s methods for evaluating success were broad and she found a lot of ways to add value to the brand, but everything she did was analytical. Unlike a lot of other senior-level PR executives I had worked with, Chantel didn’t offer feel-good statements or excuses when explaining why something did or didn’t work, but she analyzed numbers and trends to identify our strengths and weaknesses, and her company was seeing immense growth due in large part to her numbers-based methods. Since then, I’ve done my best to adopt her approach, and it’s helped me to see how the world is growing and adapting with technology, which ultimately led to identifying the trend for stagnation in PR where things hadn’t changed much since the launch of Instagram. Without Chantel’s leadership in my career, The Excellence Agency wouldn’t be shaking up the world of public relations today.
