Rising Stars: Meet Junior Salas of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Junior Salas

Hi Junior, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Greetings, I am Junior Salas, the owner of J Diamond Events and J Diamond Couture. My grandmother Maria Elena Salas served as an inspiration for my event planning company. She mostly looked after me while I was a child. I started noticing and developing an infatuation with décor because we always had a party to attend every weekend. Regretfully, I lost her in the seventh grade; it was a very difficult year. I chose to launch my event planning business in honor of her when I turned 21. My grandfather Chano Salas assisted me in constructing the majority of my unique balloon structures. Cancer claimed his life not too long ago. It was definitely a major challenge with grandfather passing, but I pushed and became stronger. I now provide my clients with upscale event planning services. I create my own original version of themes in my event planner work. For any occasion, I provide balloon décor, personalized centerpieces, stage props, uplighting, event organizer services, and tall, blingy cakes. Along with custom-made dog dresses, I also served cotton candy, popcorn, candy bars, bouquets of flowers, crowns, champagne bottles, and any other Quinceanera / Wedding accessories. In addition to bling outfits for prom and Quinceaneras, I now offer a full Couture brand called J Diamond Couture for Quinceanera and wedding dress line. I will endeavor to make the client’s dream event a reality by listening to their requests and paying close attention to every detail. I have a lot to offer. I never would have imagined that growing up would endow me with a talent that will be a part of so many of my clients’ lifelong memories and help me start an extensive business soon. I also made my first appearance on the YouTube channel Perolike “Mi Quinceanera come true.” Episode five of the series has my little sister Quinceanera story.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been an easy journey. It takes time for your services to get recognized widely and for your advertising to begin to show outcomes. There have been many occasions when it has been really slow and I have had to pay for the equipment personally. There are plenty of Designers and Event planners who provide the same services making this event planner market extremely competitive. I want to stand out and maintain a unique fantasy ambiance.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Rhinestones and bling is what most people associate with me. Notably, I was among the first designer who designed my bling suits for men. Additionally, create some of the puffiest dresses in the Quinceanera industry with our custom-made crinolinas. We provide custom Quinceanera dresses and bling suits to choreography and luxury decoration. We also provide custom accessory design and master ceremony coronation services. We offer it all here in Los Angeles.

What were you like growing up?
When I was younger, party materials, vintage DJ lights, and tall column cakes all sparked my interest. I was a chambelán in 85 Quinceañeras. I will always wanted to have my own Quince but my parents denied me from having one. They claimed that the tradition was only for girls, even though Mexican history, tradition started with boys turning of age. Over the years girls dominated the tradition. Today We have a different era and boys are starting to celebrate their Quinceañeros. It’s important for me to offer them my custom suits and provide everything I never got to experience in my teen years. I was an adventurous child when I was younger, playing with balloons and helium and learning how to make balloon arches and columns on my own when it was fashionable to do so. When I used to get allowance money from my grandparents, I would go buy decorations and use them to decorate my clubhouse. I used to collect old DJ lights from the 1920s. I’ve had a lifelong fascination with Cinderella. She inspired one of my first Quinceanera dresses, which I called Juniorella. Its a J Diamond Couture masterpiece.
