Exploring Life & Business with Ydelays Rodriguez of Golden Dream Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ydelays Rodriguez

Hi Ydelays, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began in a humble town in Venezuela, where I was inspired by my family’s entrepreneurial spirit. My grandmother, who I was named after, owned a beauty salon where my mother learned all about beauty and hair. These tips and tricks were passed down to me, fueling my passion for beauty from a young age. My father owned a photo studio and graphic design store, and I started helping him when I was just 12 years old. This experience sparked my love for all things audiovisual.

In 2012, I moved to Los Angeles, seeking new opportunities and a fresh start. To stay connected with my loved ones back home, I started a YouTube channel. This platform quickly evolved into a way for me to share beauty tips and empower women worldwide. My channel grew rapidly, and I now have nearly 900,000 subscribers and over 64 million views, and more than 1 million followers across all my social media platforms.

In 2013, I began working at Macy’s beauty counters, where I honed my expertise in skincare and makeup. This hands-on experience taught me a lot about the beauty industry and how to enhance people’s inner and outer beauty.

With the knowledge I gained from my family and my work, coupled with my entrepreneurial spirit, I decided to launch Golden Dream Beauty in 2019. I used my own savings to start the company, focusing on eco-conscious and cruelty-free products. We began with four styles of vegan false lashes, aiming to empower women through beauty and community and now we also have an amazing Vegan and Cruelty Free Mascara.

Throughout this journey, authenticity and celebrating Latina pride have been at the core of everything I do. My mission is to inspire immigrant women with stories like mine to feel seen and valued.

Balancing my entrepreneurial endeavors with motherhood has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. My community has always stood by me, allowing me to build and expand Golden Dream Beauty. This journey has taught me the importance of persistence, patience, and turning challenges into opportunities.

Golden Dream Beauty is my American dream come true, and I’m committed to helping others achieve their dreams as well. I believe that there is room for all of us to shine beautifully.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to building Golden Dream Beauty has been anything but smooth. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced numerous challenges and obstacles along the way. Moving to the United States in 2012 was a significant adjustment. I had to navigate a new culture, build a support network from scratch, and adapt to a different way of life.

Building a community of over 1 million subscribers across my social media platforms didn’t happen overnight; it took years of dedication and hard work.

One of the biggest hurdles came when I decided to launch Golden Dream Beauty. Self-funding the company with my own savings meant taking a significant financial risk. I had no investors or corporate backing, which was both empowering and daunting. There were times when I questioned whether I could pull it off, especially as an immigrant Latina in an industry that doesn’t always reflect our stories.

While the road has been tough, every struggle has made Golden Dream Beauty what it is today. I’m proud of the authenticity and values that our brand represents and my personal brand itself as an OG beauty influencer, and I’m committed to continuing this journey, no matter how rough the path may be.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Golden Dream Beauty?
I am from a small city in Venezuela. I wanted to create a Latina-owned brand full of values and with a mission to inspire immigrant women with stories like mine to feel seen.In 2019, I put all my savings into my lifelong dream and launched Golden Dream Beauty. My mission extends beyond helping others look and feel their best. It also wants to benefit the environment by offering non-toxic products that generate less harm to the planet and animals because beauty is not just about how someone looks but how they feel and bring beauty into the world around them.We launched a collection of false lashes in 2019 and we launched a new vegan mascara called “Dream On Mascara” last year.

I never saw an immigrant woman like me being represented in big roles in the beauty community and having her own beauty brand. I didn’t know English when I moved here 10 years ago. But I always wanted to help others feel beautiful and honor their inner beauty. A portion of that beauty is celebrating where you come from, cherishing your roots, and celebrating your Latino pride with authenticity. I built Golden Dream Beauty with my own savings and no investors or corporate people behind it. Some people are not used to seeing us in these roles, but I love to be able to educate people about our culture, traditions, and diversity.Golden Dream Beauty is my American dream.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going to the beach in Venezuela and just looking at the mountains around my city Guatire. I also loved working with my dad, cooking with my mom and playing with my sister.
