Meet Jen Kleiner of Intuitive Artists in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Kleiner.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a listener by design. When I was a little girl, I memorized the number for the D.C. Public Library “Dial-a-Story” hotline and savored the children’s books they read on tape. Soon after, my older half-sister got me into soap operas. Since I wasn’t home to watch during school, I’d restlessly wait until evening before dialing the “Soap Opera Digest” hotline for the daily recaps.

I come from a large family of listeners. My parents are therapists and so is almost everyone else in my family. Mom and dad split up when I was seven but then moved into a shared office and started a private therapy practice together. On the day the moving trucks came, my brave and beautiful half-sister told my mom that she wasn’t divorce-able and it touched her heart. My parents made a commitment to stay connected and raise their kids in one family despite the divorce, and their story is one of the many inspirations behind the book “Conscious Uncoupling” by New York Times Bestselling author, Katherine Woodward Thomas.

Watching my mom and dad demonstrate the power of reframing a difficult story had a large effect on me. I developed a chronic illness growing up and felt hopeless that I’d never lead a normal life. My mom spent hours telling me magical tales about inspiring people who had healed from all sorts of illnesses and survived the most difficult of challenges. She devoted herself to helping me find hope again and exposed me to all kinds of healers, helpers and alternative health care practitioners, which is why I call her my earth angel. My wonderful dad supported her every move and dedicated himself to being captain of my fun team, often taking me to the movies, sometimes two or three in a weekend.

I loved immersing myself in stories so much that I decided it was my medicine. I applied to film school and informed my parents that I was headed to California where I got my undergraduate degree in film from UC-Santa Cruz. Afterwards, I moved to LA and worked as an assistant in commercial, music video and film development. I also PA’d, coordinated and AD’d several productions before going back to school to get a masters in directing at American Film Institute. Since then, I’ve written and directed several shorts, including an award-winning film about sex trafficking called NIÑA QUEBRADA that’s still being screened years later at universities.

In order to sustain myself as a filmmaker, I found work as a freelance celebrity stylist for brands Calvin Klein and Burberry before taking on individual clients such as Guy Pearce, Robin Wright and Lucy Punch. Learning to thrive with chronic illness while being immersed in the world of entertainment, celebrity and high fashion taught me that my best skills involve helping people feel more comfortable and confident in their skin. It also gave me the courage to keep pursuing my dreams. I’m currently directing a documentary based on the work of Dr. Richard Schwartz featuring Alanis Morissette. It examines the complexities of personality and the need for self leadership in increasingly polarizing times. I’ve also written a few screenplays that are currently optioned and have produced, directed, and/or shot digital content for Ford Motors, Wanderlust, Adidas, Zimmerman, The Artemis School, iLuxCars & The Sunglasses Hut.

In my downtime, I’ve taken many courses in energy healing and personal growth to alleviate symptoms of my chronic illness and feel less burdened by the blocks that have held me back. I apprenticed under Katherine Woodward Thomas and eventually helped her launch a coaches training program for her first book, “Calling In The One”.

I’m very proud to have parlayed my experience as a fashion stylist and filmmaker into a successful coaching practice helping people make breakthrough achievements with more ease and less struggle. My passion for listening has been the common thread. I believe that if we listen well enough, we can unburden parts of each other that carry pain and uncover wisdom and resources that grow our minds, heal our hearts and expand our sense of purpose and belonging.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My battle with chronic illness has been my greatest teacher. It’s led me down a path of further exploration into the world of alternative medicine, energy healing, metaphysical studies and spiritual transformation. Over the last 20 years, I have learned from many gifted teachers, healers, shamans, coaches, therapists and spiritual guides. I have tremendous compassion for people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, self-doubt, breakups, creative blocks, spiritual crisis, or medical illness. Having been there and come out on the other side, I know firsthand what it’s like to suffer endlessly and struggle to find hope that someday it will get better. It is an honor to walk others through difficult transitions and dark nights of the soul. Helping people go from lost to found is one of the greatest pleasures I’ve known.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a certified professional life coach and creative consultant with a private practice called Intuitive Artists. I’m not only intuitive, but I thrive at empowering people like you to pursue your dreams while becoming more at peace with your present. I’ll teach you how to wring out the sponge and release whatever’s holding you back. Then I’ll help you get into alignment with where you are before we generate action steps towards where you want to be. We’ll prioritize your steps, clarify your goals and keep you focused on the vision while joyfully marinating in the process.

I love being a coach. My clients start businesses, change careers, write novels, sell scripts, conduct symphonies, star on TV, direct features, thrive on tour, win championships, paint murals, heal from illness, fall in love, strengthen relationships, lessen triggers and develop more self-awareness.

I’ve completed trainings in life coaching, Internal Family Systems therapy, Voice Dialogue, The Sedona Method, Character Mapping, Reiki & Reconnective Energy Healing, among others. I won a Professional Women of Excellence Award for my private practice by the National Association of Professional Women and was coined “The Luminary Life Coach” by Refinery 29.

I see clients in Los Angeles and also work with people all over the globe via phone or Skype.
