Check Out Sarah Tromley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Tromley

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi ! My artist name is Rexford. I have previously done an interview with you when I was putting out music under my name, Sarah Tromley.

I created Rexford to create an area of separation between myself and my music.
Growing up, I was so shy. But when I would get on stage to sing or act, I had this unexpected confidence.
I found that on stage, you could be whoever you want to be.
And so I created Rexford.

Writing as Rexford, I am able to tap into the rawness and truth of my life and the stories I want to tell.
Rexford is the PNW version of myself.
Rex is a girl’s girl.
She is into natural orange wines, biohacking, skincare and slow mornings.
She is a hopeless romantic, but takes no shit from boys.
She stands up for herself and what she believes in.

Music has always been at the forefront of my mind.
Growing up in choir and musicals definitely shaped where I am today.
The only option for me was to be creative–it would be punishment for me to not sing or perform.

I am where I am today because of the people I have met along the way.
I am very thankful for my mentors and creative allies.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are no smooth roads in LA! lol

Looking back on my journey, there is nothing I would change or do differently.

Have a made mistakes? Yes.

Have I learned from my mistakes? Yes!

Growing pains are necessary.

A few pointers…

– Contracts are your friend
– Nothing is free. Make sure to know rates before going into sessions with producers
– You don’t need a manager until you have something to manage. If you are indie, learn to wear a lot of hats.

Make a point to look at how far you’ve come; and don’t forget to enjoy the climb.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Rexford.

I am a singer/songwriter and actor living in Los Angeles, CA.

I am most proud of my most recent EP, “Clear My Heart”.
Also–playing The Viper Room earlier this year.

I would say my authentic lyrics and sound sets me apart from others.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Be creative.

A lot can be done over a zoom session or a phone call.

There is nothing more special than vibing in a room full of creatives–and I will never take those moments for granted post Covid.
