Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Hahn
Alexander, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In my junior year of high school, my parents gave me a nudge that changed my life: they encouraged me to join the choir to enhance my college application. Little did I know, this would ignite a passion that would shape my future. Despite having no prior musical training, I dove headfirst into the world of singing and classical music.
As part of the choir, voice lessons were mandatory. Without the ability to read music, I relied on recordings to learn the pieces. This challenge became a thrilling adventure, and I quickly fell in love with the beautiful repertoire and the artists who brought it to life. The more I immersed myself in this new world, the more I realized that singing was not just a hobby but a calling. I was determined to make music my career.
I initially began my collegiate years at Cornell University as a history major. But my passion led me to transfer to the prestigious Mannes College of Music in New York City, where I honed my craft in classical singing. Driven by an insatiable desire to perfect my art, I continued my studies at the Yale Opera Studio, earning both a Master’s Degree and an Artist Diploma.
I now maintain a career as a professional classical vocalist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming a singer is a challenging journey that demands patience and resilience. Along the way, you’ll encounter obstacles and setbacks, but each stumble is an opportunity to rise with more grace and wisdom. Embrace the challenges, learn from every experience, and try to have some fun along the way!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe having a support system is absolutely vital. I’ve leaned heavily on the unwavering support of my family and friends, especially my amazing wife, Jennifer Sung, who is an incredible singer and teacher in her own right. Additionally, my deep-rooted faith in Christ provides me with strength and grace.
