Today we’d like to introduce you to Eileen Kendall.
Eileen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started practicing law in 2003. I was lucky enough to get a position with a prominent litigation firm in the south bay that was more focused on lifestyle more than meeting billable hour requirements. After 8 years I went to work with a solo practitioner. To be honest that was a nightmare for many reasons. I was there for a year and half before going to a national firm in Long Beach. At that time, I was dating my now husband and formulating a plan that would give me more freedom to travel and have time with my family. After 5 years, I ventured out on my own. October 1, 2016, I opened Kendall Law’s doors.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For my own business, it has been a pretty smooth road. There are some small bumps but that is to be expected. At the close of the first calendar year of business I am very pleased with how well the business has done.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kendall Law – what should we know?
I am a civil litigation attorney with a focus on matters related to real property, contracts, and business. In my cases the one I am the most proud of is a matter that came to me after another attorney spent months just sending letters. In just a few weeks I was able to get a restraining order against the lender which resulted them coming to the table for settlement. I settled the case very favorably for the client. I like to think that I set myself apart from other attorneys due to being responsive. A lot of complaints from attorneys are that they do not call or respond to the client.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My ability to network and make connections. My connections in the community helped me hit the ground running when I opened my doors and my business continues to grow because of those connections.
