Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Cutler
Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was five years old I told my parents that I wanted to be an actor. I auditioned for a repertory company in Los Angeles and was cast in my first role as a baby grasshopper in a fabulous children’s play called “Once Upon a Closeline”.
I have been blessed to be a working actor, singer & musician for over seventy years. I have starred in my own series, co-starred in three series and guest starred on dozens of television shows and many feature films. In 1994 I opened my own acting studio and am honored to be carrying on the acting process and style developed by my dear friend and mentor for forty years Charles Erich Conrad.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The entertainment industry is not for the weak. It takes perseverance, determination and continuous work. You must be a long distance runner not a sprinter. It’s necessary that you not fall into the trap of only making money or wanting to be a star. Nothing will destroy you, your goals or your ambition faster. What then do you do? You must become as committed to your craft as a professional athlete or Olympian.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The project that I am most proud of is starring in my own series for five years, “The Secrets of Isis”. For over fifty years this television series has been a part of my life and has reached fans all over the world. I continue to receive fan mail and appreciation from every part of the globe. The reason for the continued popularity is that there was a moral and message in each episode.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
If you don’t learn to take risks you will never succeed in the entertainment business. While performing the role of Marley’s Ghost for 14 years in “The Christmas Carol” one season I contracted walking pneumonia and performed 22 shows without a break. After that show closed I spent Christmas Day to New Years Day bedridden and recovering.
