Rising Stars: Meet Jose Morales

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Morales.

Hi Jose, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers. 
The way I started tattooing was hanging around friends, who hung around a tattoo shop a lot at night. One of them also lived there in the shop. I have always had a passion for art my whole life, but never had an art lesson, and even dropped out of high school. But once I was exposed to the tattoo world, I quickly became passionate about learning tattooing. I eventually got my apprenticeship with someone who was also a good friend of mine, and he was known to be among the best at the time. Since then, I have highly dedicated myself to pushing the limit and making myself the best that I can be. Along the way and upon meeting new people, I got to learn work ethics, techniques, and other types of art mediums. I love doing anime tattoos in different styles, Japanese tattoos, realism tattoos, and especially pop culture and floral tattoos. No matter what I do, I try to make things original in my own way. I’m very grateful for all the trust I’ve gotten from clients in the last 17 years, and I absolutely love what I do. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road; earlier in my career, my family and I decided to move to California from Hawaii, and in doing so, brought the struggle of reestablishing my clientele. With the support of my family, the people I had worked with, and the clients, I was able to build things back up again. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would say I am most known for my anime work and realistic roses. If anything sets me apart from others, it would be my commitment to not ever being comfortable with what I already know and always striving to learn and improve on my skills. 

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Never give up!
