Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalia Halabi.
Hi Dalia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I resonate deeply with Carl Jung’s “wounded healer” archetype, which describes individuals who, through their own experiences of pain, develop a unique ability to heal others. I’ve faced a lot of trauma in my life: war, my parents’ divorce, near-death experiences, loss, abuse, heartbreak, and more. These experiences, as painful as they were, became the catalyst for my purpose.
Like many who experience early trauma, I developed poor coping mechanisms. I fell into patterns of perfectionism, overachieving, people-pleasing, and buried my emotions in work and food. At that time, I was working so hard and achieving career success, but it came at the cost of my well-being. Eventually, I hit a major burnout, and at the height of my career, I broke down. As strange as it may sound, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. That breakdown forced me to confront my pain and embark on a healing journey. I became deeply curious about my own psyche and committed myself to exploring every aspect of it. With the support of therapists and healers, I began to address my wounds and learn the tools to heal myself. I dedicated myself daily to reparenting my inner child, integrating my shadow, and learning to regulate my emotions and nervous system.
My curiosity led me to continue my education and pursue a Master of Science in Applied Psychology. I immersed myself in various therapeutic approaches, from cognitive behavioral therapy to hypnotherapy, coaching, multiple energy healing modalities, and yoga. This wasn’t just about my own healing; I became obsessed with understanding how to help others heal too. Every challenge I faced turned into a blessing, giving me the tools to create meaning in my life and help others do the same. Purpose is incredibly powerful. It acts as a guiding light, turning our pain into something that gives life depth and meaning. For me, helping others became my purpose. By transforming my own suffering into a path of healing, I found a profound sense of fulfillment. Purpose allows us to see our pain not as a burden but as a catalyst for growth and contribution. It makes all the hardships worthwhile because they lead to something greater – the ability to make a positive impact on others’ lives.
I would advise anyone struggling to find their own purpose amid their pain to start by getting curious about their own story. Dive deep into understanding your experiences and emotions. Seek support from therapists or healers who can guide you. Embrace your journey of self-discovery and healing. And remember, your pain can become your greatest strength. Look for ways to use your experiences to help others, even in small ways. Purpose doesn’t have to be grand; it’s about finding what brings meaning and fulfillment to your life. Once you find that, your pain transforms into a powerful tool for connection and change.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not a smooth road. I had to come face to face with my demons, meet parts of myself that I had exiled, and get radically honest about my life. This meant taking accountability for the reality I had created, which was incredibly challenging. I had to break free from old patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
There were many moments of doubt and times when I felt overwhelmed by the enormity of it all. However, each struggle was a step toward greater self-awareness and growth. It led me to where I am today, and although I’m still a work in progress, I wouldn’t change the journey for anything. It has shaped me into the person I am and has given me the tools and empathy to help others navigate their own paths to healing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice is called Sukoon LLC, which means “rest” or “peace” in Arabic. At Sukoon, I offer coaching and consulting services to individuals, groups, and businesses, aiming to help them overcome obstacles, break free from past conditioning, and operate at their optimal level. I provide personalized individual sessions and group coaching and teach workshops and courses to empower people to take charge of their mental health. What sets me apart is my highly customized approach. With a myriad of certifications in various therapeutic and coaching modalities, I draw from a broad range of techniques and practices to address the specific needs of my clients.
One of my passions is inner child healing and parts integration work. I’ve witnessed the profound impact that healing your inner child can have on your life. This involves connecting with and healing the wounded parts of yourself that developed during childhood. These parts can influence behaviors, emotions, and beliefs in the present. By nurturing these inner children, we can release past traumas and integrate them into a healthier, more cohesive self. I actually have an Inner Child Healing workshop on my website that people can purchase and do at their own pace, and I am currently working on a group healing container.
My international background also sets me apart. As an Arab-American who has lived all over the world, I bring a deep cultural awareness to my practice, allowing me to connect with and understand clients from diverse backgrounds on a deeper level.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the personalized, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach I offer at Sukoon LLC. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore and heal their inner worlds. My mission is to make mental health more accessible and to empower individuals and organizations to thrive, providing them with the tools and support they need to navigate their personal and professional challenges.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Having a healthy routine is essential for me to operate at my best. I prioritize starting my day with meditation, and apps like Calm are invaluable for their abundance of guided meditations. Additionally, I highly recommend books like “Homecoming” for inner child healing, “The Mountain is You” for overcoming hurts, and “Becoming Supernatural” for self-healing. When it comes to podcasts, I frequently listen to Huberman, Lewis Howes, and others for insights and inspiration. I’m actually working on my own podcast right now, so watch this space. I’ll be talking to some inspirational people who have had quite the journey and, through their vulnerability, learn how to overcome challenges, heal, and maybe even feel less isolated in this big world of ours.
Also, I may be biased, but my YouTube channel, D’s Spot, has a wealth of content, from psychoeducational videos to yoga and guided meditations.
