Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Crawford
Hi Steve, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I fell in love with acting and Magic at the age of six after watching a movie about Houdini starring Tony Curtis. Performs skits to elementary school for my church. Magic shows on the side as well. During high school, participated in all of the drama tournaments and plays. Work my way through college doing Magic shows that had also received drama scholarships. Had made commitment back then that I would eventually move to LA and become a full-time Actor. This would take a few years as I toured performing. Life shows all over the country right out of school. Years ago, I became a magician at Magic Amusement Park and moved to LA. At the end of that season, I retired from shows and wanted to acting full-time. Since then, I’ve been on numerous television shows, many music videos and even picked up the lead in a series. I love. I love Hollywood!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My first year in California, I had no Auditions. That’s a tough start, but this is something I had committed to my entire life, and I didn’t give up. I resigned from my position at Magic Mountain as an entertainer… Refined my approach and submitting myself to projects and to agents. By the end of the second year, I had finally started getting bookings. First, but more and more and now I work on some projects Every week. A little over a year ago, one of my dreams came true. I’ve always loved her and wanted to work with Eli Roth. I picked up the lead in a project he produced called The Legion of Exorcists. It’s streaming on several networks, including Max. Sadly, the strike stopped the process of going to work on a season two. We’re still hoping to go back and do more projects, and I’m hoping to work more with Eli Roth on some of his other projects… but I’m living proof that dreams to come true
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Read more about my background as a performer at my old magic website, www.EntertainerSteveCrawford.com. I spent a lot of my time on stage in my life in front of audiences. The thing I most proud of now is that I’ve been able to transform that to the field. Cinematic acting is very different than stage acting. I’ve also been a student of people my entire life. I believe that this has helped me develop my skills as a character actor. My absolute best work is playing people that are nothing like myself.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’ve broken numerous bones all over my body from my years as a daredevil stunt escape artist…
