Today we’d like to introduce you to Vesselina Raltcheva

Vesselina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? 
My name is Vesselina, moving to LA was always a distant dream for me, let alone working in the industry that is a passion of mine. 4 years later of living in LA and settling in I made my dream a reality and have now been professionally working in the industry for 3 years! 

My fascination with cosmetics and modeling began as a young girl. My earliest experimentation was creating my own “fashion magazines,” i.e., notebooks consisting of magazine cutouts of styles, celebrities, makeup. At 12 years old, I enrolled in a variety of makeup classes. I loved what I learned. From that point on, my friends and I would regularly practice applying all sorts of makeup styles. As I got a little older, I started making YouTube videos, hoping to expand upon and share my creative expression. However, it was only until I moved from San Diego to Los Angeles that I realized that my passion translated to skills and that I could use both to make money—doing something I loved. 

I was inspired to work in the industry, I took courses to refresh my skillset and graduated it to stand out from other artists in the field. I found marketing that linked makeup artists with clients. I was nervous during my first gig, but I was thrilled when a girl approached me and asked that I do her makeup for a wedding. I gladly accepted the offer. The day came: I realized how fulfilling it was to put my art to work while getting to know and chat with the girl for her special occasion. More than anything, I loved seeing the girl’s reaction, the unmistakable swelling of her self-esteem and confidence, from start to finish. And like that, I found new clients reaching out to me. 

And the clients keep coming. I’ve been invited to LA Fashion Week, I’ve worked on multiple e-commerce shots for brands, worked with guests/attendees for big events such as the Critics’ Choice Awards, etc. Still, while I hope for further opportunities like these, I’m perfectly in my Zen with my “bread and butter”—joyful brides on their special day or my other clients enjoying the pampering for their own special occasion. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggles were minor, in all honesty, because of how natural makeup application came to me and my knowledge base over the year that supported this new venture. Practice to reality wasn’t a major shock to adapt to. Of course, learning the new routine of taking on clients and building out my clientele list, marketing to have consistent work – proved challenging. As well as the earlier year when COVID took some extra thought and care to make my clients feel safe. I hope the road ahead is as smooth as this and I continue growing my skillset in the meantime. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m most known for incorporating a spa-like experience for my clients on their most treasured day- their wedding & their wedding party. I work closely with brides to make them feel special and taken care of with skin care and skin tools that will make them look refreshed and ready to take on their day with their long-lasting face of makeup and hair. The day is long and consists of all their family members enjoying the moment with them. Making them the priority and how I handle the bridal party sets me apart this is the reason I have a 5-star rating on over 50 times of being hired by my clients. 

What’s next?
For future years, I would love to find a business partner to grow with me. This would make for a great full-time escape from the normal sedentary lifestyle and realize my dreams that I grew into after coming to LA. I am always striving for positive change and growth in everything I do, and I’m sure I will get to realize that as well.
