Inspiring Conversations with Judi Lee-Carr of Jubilee Interiors

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Judi Lee-Carr.

Judi Lee-Carr

Hi Judi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to entrepreneurship, a dream that began amidst an unconventional journey.

After dropping out of college due to financial constraints, I started my career at a luxury shoe store. A promotion to visual merchandising led me to meet an Indonesian family, my first client, who had just purchased a home. Designing their home uncovered my talent & love for interior design. This unexpected venture sparked my passion and led to a job with a prestigious hotel group in Jakarta owned by the same clients.

My career and personal life intertwined as I pursued further studies in London and gained experience in Paris. In 2015, after returning to Singapore, I began a long-distance relationship with my now husband. We traveled the globe to stay connected, marrying in 2018 when I moved to Southern California to start our life together.

This move coincided with a layoff during the pandemic, which finally pushed me to launch my venture, Jubilee Interiors. Turning adversity into opportunity, I established my firm, channeling my passion and entrepreneurial spirit into a thriving luxury residential interior design business that fulfills my lifelong dream.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my interior design journey in 2012 has been quite an adventure. Teaching myself the ropes meant diving headfirst into learning industry processes from scratch. But the real test came in 2020 when I launched Jubilee Interiors.

Balancing my dream of entrepreneurship with the reality of administrative tasks was a challenge. From managing finances to navigating COVID-19 disruptions, every day was a new hurdle. Yet, I’ve stayed focused on my mission: crafting beautiful, safe spaces that bring peace and comfort to people’s lives.

Welcoming my newborn in November 2023 added new challenges, requiring adept time management and realistic work-life boundaries.

Despite these demands, my dedication to creating sanctuaries deepened, highlighting the importance of perseverance and flexibility in balancing professional and personal growth. Honestly, she is the best little bundle of joy that has ever happened to me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Jubilee Interiors is a full-service interior design firm. That means we provide design, project management, and furnishing services. We cover all drafting, permitting, budgeting, and furnishing needs. Whether you want to refresh a single room, remodel your home, or embark on a new build, we’ve got you.

Our brand and design ethos revolves around Organic Modern Living. Crisp lines, layered surfaces, natural textures, and a neutral, cozy palette create a clean and uncluttered feel. Natural forms, earthy textures, and raw materials are added to inject warmth and coziness into the design.

I feel what sets us apart is our heart for our customers. Providing great customer service is so important to us. We take the time to listen and want to make design work fun for you. Your experience should be as enjoyable, fuss-free, and uncomplicated as possible.

What makes you happy?
I find joy in living simply. Having been born, raised, and lived in big cities all my life, I crave a connection with nature, making California the perfect place for me.

Outside of work, you can find me on local hiking trails, attending yoga classes, taking small road trips to explore the quaint towns of California, trying new restaurants and food places, or simply spending downtime at home with my newborn daughter.

Additionally, I’ve set a personal goal to visit all 63 national parks in the US!
