Hi ANU, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2017, amidst a tumultuous period in my life, I stumbled upon XXXTentacion, whose raw authenticity resonated deeply with me. Inspired by his ability to use music as a conduit for healing, I crafted ‘Sad Nights,’ a poignant expression of my struggles. The song’s underground success birthed LILDEATHSTAR, a persona forged from adversity.
Empowered by my newfound passion, I embarked on a transformative journey to LA, heeding the sage advice of Ski Mask The Slump God. Despite initial setbacks, music became my beacon of hope, propelling me through the darkest of times. As LILDEATHSTAR, I achieved milestones I once deemed unattainable.
However, personal growth required shedding old identities, and through the discovery of the power of love and light, I became reborn as ANU THE DEITY; I embraced a name reflective of my spiritual journey and cosmic aspirations. The shift marked a profound evolution, catalyzing unprecedented success and opportunities.
From performing at Rolling Loud to founding my event company, BKOFest, and charting new musical territories, each challenge has forged an unbreakable bond with my audience and propelled me towards greater heights. With ‘Very Fleeky Girl’ as the harbinger of my forthcoming mixtape, ‘Anu, The Return of the Anunnaki,’ the journey continues, illuminated by the infinite possibilities of the cosmos.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but since the creation of Sad Nights, I’ve learned to transmute any energy into energy that can make amazing music. Some of my best music has been made during heartbreak or depression. It truly is a bittersweet combination. Thankfully, unlike LILDEATHSTAR, ANU has been teaching me to find the power in moving in love and that the power of love is truly the most powerful force in the universe.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart from other is my amazing ability to adapt to any situation and my understanding of the universe around me. Me being a life path number 5, adapting well to change, is by definition, who I am! Whether it’s from moving across the country with a dollar and a dream to getting broken up with 10 years into a relationship, in situations where most fold, I thrive. I am able to find the lesson in any situation that is thrown my way and take the emotions from it, and turn it into a hit record. It makes me powerful but also hard to date or be friends with lol; you might catch a song I release to be about you!

My favorite podcast is this amazing one called Silk Talk Podcast. They have a slogan, ‘Where Charisma & Spirituality Meet,’ and they truly embody that. The host’s name is ANU THE DEITY, and his co-host is Divinity. ANU decided to create the podcast because he found himself having these amazing conversations with the people in LA and thought it would make an amazing podcast that people would love to enjoy and listen to; let’s just say he was right 😉
