Daily Inspiration: Meet Yasmin Gharib Wade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmin Gharib Wade.

Hi Yasmin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. 
I’m a Casting Director and mom with two children (Black/Persian/White (Irish, French-Canadian German) mix with different hair and skin needs. I realized after my daughter was suffering from severe eczema that I needed to make her an organic remedy. So, I got cooking in my kitchen, and Yassi’s Butta was created. Initially formulated for my daughter, my son, and the entire family began using it, which evolved into an organic, all-purpose skincare and haircare product suitable for all genders, ages, and skin and hair types. As for its growth…I started gifting my Butta to friends and family, which led to my getting into the hands of a store owner in Beverly Hills. From there, I felt confident to start my online store as well as getting into other boutique shops around the city, including West Hollywood, Highland Park, Atwater, Silverlake, Laguna Beach, and New Port Beach. I was recently highlighted in the LA Times December 2023 Gift Guide and been lucky to have been featured in Pasadena Magazine, Angeleno Magazine, GQ, Variety, Vanity Fair’s Oscar issue, and this month’s Vogue. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been “Smooth like Butta”! I have an amazing support system from my family *(specifically my mom and girlfriends). That said, my main struggle is realizing I can’t do it all on my own. I run two businesses while being a single mom on a budget. And to keep growing you have to let go and start building a dynamite team. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a Casting Director for the past 25 + years. Mainly for commercials and promos focusing on comedy and improv. I started my Butta business out of my kitchen in 2015. I organically grew the business on my own. I secured a local lab that I love, and I’m ready to scale my business. 

What are your plans for the future?
Expanding Yassi’s Butta to the clean beauty market globally including hotel and spas. 💛
