Life & Work with Luis Casco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Casco.

Luis Casco

Hi Luis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in fashion, where I set out to become a designer. But life had other plans, landing me in Paris and kickstarting my career in makeup. Since then, I’ve been on a whirlwind adventure, traveling for work to over 30 countries, leading the makeup teams for global fashion weeks, working on Fashion Editorials, and spending four seasons on camera as the lead makeup artist on Project Runway. Along the way, I’ve written a couple of books on makeup and skincare, spreading my passion to thousands.

Now, I’m settled in LA, enjoying the laid-back vibe while still diving into my dual loves of beauty and architecture. When I’m not touching up faces for fashion shoots or working with celebs, you can find me restoring historic homes and working on interior design. My 1950s modern home reflects both passions perfectly—it’s my little haven filled with beauty and charm.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been bumps on the road certainly, but the drive that propelled me to success in the business helped me sail through. I think in fashion you have to be able to adapt and move with the times. Everything changes so fast, and you have to keep your curiosity and an open mind to always learn.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I stated before I share both a love for the Beauty and Architecture worlds. I have specialized for almost 30 years as I makeup artist. I have worked with tons of celebrities, written two best-selling makeup books, and was on TV for over 4 years as the Makeup expert on Project Runway. I am bilingual, with Spanish being my first language (proud Salvadoran), and I know that being able to communicate to a larger audience has always been key to my success.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I have remodeled and lived in some of the coolest, architecturally significant homes in LA. I’ve help to bring back some iconic homes, and I am very proud of that. I am also a proud supporter and member of the LGBTQ+ community and thrive in helping others who want to create a career in the beauty/makeup industry.
