Life & Work with Alexia Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia Gonzalez.

Alexia Gonzalez

Hi Alexia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Entrevista

I’m a born and raised Mexican beach girl. I grew up in Cabo San Lucas, and I always dreamed of being on TV; being able to tell stories, to literally convert myself into another person seemed so incredible and fun. Since I was little, I would tell my mom that I wanted to be in a movie or to have my own concert. I tried dancing, but it turned out it wasn’t for me. I started singing when I was in elementary school in the school choir, but never took it seriously until I was 14. One of my friends convinced me to try a musical theatre class, and I loved it; after that class, I knew it was what I wanted to do. When I told my dad I wanted to do acting for the rest of my life, he wasn’t really convinced but still gave me the chance to go to a summer camp in New York. Long story short, during that summer camp, I had the chance to audition for my college and didn’t tell my parents until I got accepted, but COVID came, and I decided to wait a little bit more. In June 2021, I moved to LA and started acting school. As I moved forward in school, I loved more what I was doing and learning. I recently graduated in February 2024, and I am about to start my OPT (optional practical training). I am looking forward to finally submerging myself in my career and to start working and meeting new people!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Well-being in this industry is never easy but it’s definitely been fun. As an international, I believe that it is a little harder just because we have the clock ticking, but at the same time, that has been something that keeps me motivated! There was a moment before I graduated that I would ask myself if this is what I wanted or if I was actually good at it, but then, every time I act, I feel peace and joy. Besides, I’ve been really blessed with the friends that I have met throughout my 3 years in LA that makes it feel like home. And my family has always been present and supporting my career. Having all their support has definitely made this journey easier. I’m currently working on finding an agent but, at the same time, having everything ready so that once my OPT starts, I can start self-submitting to auditions.

A big challenge is everything I will have to do for the 01 visa, that no one really tells you how hard it can be, but I think that it’s a challenge worth every try.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an aspiring actress and singer, but I’ve done a little bit of everything: modeling, social media, and even behind camera. I’m mostly known for social media. I started doing videos singing in my car while I was getting my BFA. It’s been a fun ride because I get to do 2 of the things I love the most, singing and acting, at the same time. Back home, I did some musicals like the greatest showman adaptation, grease, and Beauty and the Beast. I’m really looking forward to more screen work, and I’m really excited about what is coming.

I have some new projects on the way, some short films, a song, and more, which I would love to share with you soon!!!

What do you think about happiness?
Uff, there are a lot of things that make this girl happy, and I could go on forever, but besides acting, I would say that horseback riding is one of my biggest passions. Just being able to gallop or run is magical. Being on a horse makes me forget everything in the real world. Back home, whenever I had a “bad” day, going horseback riding was my big escape, jumping, galloping, or even just showering my horse was what I needed to make my day better.
