Despite the challenges of coming from a small town, Clyla Destiny refused to let obstacles stand in her way. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Clyla Destiny’s journey to success has been marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering spirit, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. From overcoming personal tragedies to battling with learning disabilities, Clyla Destiny has faced adversity head-on, emerging stronger and more determined than ever before. One of the earliest hurdles Clyla encountered was her struggle with reading. Growing up in New Hampshire, she found herself grappling with words and letters, unable to decipher them with ease like her peers. It wasn’t until the third grade that Clyla finally began to make progress with reading, a milestone that required hours of patience, perseverance, and extra support from her teachers and family. 

Tragedy struck Clyla’s life at a young age when her beloved brother was senselessly murdered when she was just nine years old. Devastated by the loss, Clyla turned to writing as a form of catharsis, pouring her grief and emotions onto the page. Her first poem, penned in honor of her brother, was published in his obituary, a bittersweet tribute to a life cut tragically short. Despite the pain and heartache she endured, Clyla refused to let adversity define her. Instead, she channeled her pain into her art, using music and poetry as a means of healing and self-expression. 

Through her words and melodies, she found solace and strength, transforming her pain into power and her sorrow into songs of hope and resilience. Clyla’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that obstacles are merely steppingstones on the path to greatness. From Grammy-nominated creatives to seasoned veterans, these individuals have played a pivotal role in shaping Clyla’s artistic vision and helping her navigate the complexities of the entertainment industry. One such mentor is Hollis King, a four-time Grammy-nominated creative director, photographer, and former VP of Verve Records. 

Since taking Clyla under his wing in 2019, Hollis has been a constant source of encouragement and inspiration, pushing her to push her creative boundaries and always strive for excellence. Hollis’s mantra, “All the success you’re looking for is on the other side of the work you haven’t done yet,” serves as a guiding principle for Clyla, motivating her to never rest on her laurels and always keep pushing forward. Despite his own impressive accolades, Hollis remains humble and dedicated to his craft, constantly honing his skills and seeking out new challenges. Under Hollis’s watchful eye and extensive expertise in the entertainment industry, Clyla has received the most constant and consistent artist development. From the moment he handed her a microphone on the second day of her internship at The Billie Holiday Theatre, Hollis has been instrumental in helping Clyla find her voice and hone her craft as a performer. But Hollis is just one of many mentors who have played a role in Clyla’s journey.
