Life & Work with Taylor Ross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Ross.

Taylor Ross

Hi Taylor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As an actor, storyteller, and mental health advocate, it’s always been my dream to impact people for good and to empower them to be the best version of themselves.

As a kid and young adult, I was very shy and easily bullied, and suffered some major setbacks (New York housing and Wall Street crash and ultimately losing my father to mental illness).

However, through all of this, there was a silver lining: having grown up in both the entertainment meccas (LA and New York), they provided a safe space for me through acting, singing, and comedy.

I always hoped that one day, if I overcame the pain of it all, I’d share my story with others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my career, the biggest obstacles I faced were Covid and the SAG Aftra strike, which shut down Hollywood for quite a while. But my perseverance and my can-do attitude, that I learned from overcoming earlier childhood trauma, opened the door for a new way of looking at things and acting outside of the box.

During lockdown, I became a self-appointed LA Mural Girl and I was interviewed by several podcast hosts who I shared my inspirational stories with.

This surprisingly garnered attention from fellow actors and directors.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a commercial & theatrical actor and a stand-up improvisational comic!

My work focuses on inspirational storytelling that lifts up others.

I am beyond grateful to be able to work with a director, Jhosimar Vasquez of Vasquez Pictures, whose mission it is to give a voice to stories that need to be told.

I also am incredibly proud that I’ve just started a podcast and became a YouTuber and Tik Toker, where my focus is educating others about moving out of toxic thinking and relationships and into creating a life of self-love and success.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I think the main takeaway from Covid is that we all banded together and became a community working as a team to get through this.

It also taught me to be incredibly creative at pursuing my goals!

But mostly, Covid has taught me that life is fragile and must be appreciated.
