Meet Drew Saber of Drew Saber Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Saber.

Drew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2007, created a line of healthy chocolate products (zero sugar, naturally sweetened) and sold them into Whole Foods Market, Mother’s Market, and numerous Natural sector stores. In 2010 I licensed the formulas to another company, which eventually bought my trademarks and formulas, and I exited the business

Since then, I have been hired by numerous companies and startup entrepreneurs in the Natural Products industry to help them create and launch innovative products. I have also worked in executive management with several, including: Body Ecology (www.BodyEcology.com) where I served as Vice President of Operations; Celtic Sea Salt (www.CelticSeaSalt.com) where I was Chief Operating Officer; and David Wolfe Foods/LongevityWarehouse.com where I was Manager of Product Development.

Today, I mostly work with startups, helping them develop their product lines, find right-sized manufacturers and distributors to go to market, and create scalable, 7-figure businesses.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Probably the biggest challenge is finding the middle ground with a client to take their initial product concept/recipe from incubation stage (not yet commercially viable) to scalability. This usually requires some flexibility on the part of the entrepreneur which can cause growing pains. In the end, we work together to create a perfected prototype that will have all the right features, without being over-designed. This is the product that then goes to production.

Fortunately for me, I had developed many Natural Products channel relationships over the years which created an early word-of-mouth reputation for my services. Many of my outstanding client contracts have come by way of referral or recommendation of prior clients, which has been wonderful.

Please tell us about Drew Saber Consulting.
Drew Saber Consulting helps clients in the Natural Products industry develop and launch scalable, 7-Figure products & business models, so they can grow legacy brands without getting distracted from their core business responsibilities.

I’m proud of many projects I’ve been involved in… a few that come to mind are a nutrition bar I developed for Santa Barbara Bar (www.sbbar.co), a kefir starter project with Body Ecology (www.bodyecology.com), and a major production efficiency I helped bring about at Celtic Sea Salt (www.celticseasalt.com). I value my clients’ privacy, so I won’t go into great detail here, except to say that the results were outstanding.

What sets Drew Saber Consulting apart from other Natural Products consultants is specialization in the functional snack niche; i.e. better-tasting, better-for-you snack and meal-replacement products that deliver exceptional use value to the customer and excellent Brand equity to the client.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
So many…probably building cars and trucks out of wood in my Grandfather’s workshop. He was a tremendous artist and carpenter, and had a wonderful impact on my early creativity.
