Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Originally from the Bay Area, I started grooming about 10 years ago at a salon. In 2018 I moved to Los Angeles, but I didn’t want to continue working at a salon. When talking to people, the conversation about dog grooming would come up, and I started to go to people’s houses to groom their dogs. Whether that be in their bathroom, garage, or backyard. I enjoyed doing it randomly, but I never thought about having my own company. An opportunity came about of purchasing a mobile grooming van, and I decided to embark on my journey of starting my own mobile dog grooming business. It took me 6 months, but in September of 2023, I officially opened The Dog Studio. It has been going amazing, and business is booming. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made to start my own business.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The beginning was extremely difficult. The process of starting a business, as well as getting the van in proper condition to function the way I wanted it to, was a long process. It took about 6 months to complete the van since we had to change the equipment, electrical, paint, water source, etc.

The Dog Studio is a luxury mobile dog grooming business that services The San Fernando Valley and Greater Los Angeles area. We specialize in dog grooming of all breeds and sizes. We are cage-free and do one grooming for each appointment. We space out our appointments to allow enough time to speak with the clients before and after, as well as taking our time with some dogs that need a little extra TLC. We believe in quality over quantity, which is why we don’t rush or force anything. Getting to know the dog and making sure they are as comfortable as possible is our number one goal. While we’re proud of our fun and easygoing attitude, our commitment to the safety and security of your pet guides everything we do. We are cage-free, stress-free, and worry-free, knowing that your furry friend is a few steps away.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The big trend in the grooming industry are doodles. Whether they are goldendoodles, bernedoodles, or labradoodles, these designer breeds are taking charge. I have seen an increase of new clients that are first-time dog owners with these pets that require an immense amount of grooming. My goal is to educate my clients and make them aware of the importance of starting the grooming process at a young age, and that grooming is important for the health and maintenance of their pet.
