Check Out Bossi’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bossi.

Bossi

Bossi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Singer, Songwriter, poet, and founder of House of Bossi, a platform I started out of my home to support the arts through residency programs, live performance series, and access to resources and community.

I grew up in Spring Lake, a beautiful, small town on the west side of Michigan. I decided to attend Northwestern University and study theater, and after school, I moved to New York City. My career started in music, performing mostly with jazz musicians and a few rock bands before I went off on my own and released my first album. After a few years of grinding in the local scene, I realized the challenges of being an artist and started building a career in hospitality that eventually took over until music was no longer a part of my life. It wasn’t until I went through two battles with breast cancer that I realized music is what makes me feel most alive. I moved to LA in 2018, returned full-time to my artistry soon after, released an EP in 2022, and am now working on a full-length album slated to be released later in the year. I’ve never looked back and have had some very exciting milestones in such a short amount of time. I’ve been lucky to perform all over the world, from Italy to NYC and LA, to sold-out shows at Hotel Cafe and Aviator Nation Dreamland.

A major part of my trajectory as an artist is also attributed to my work starting and growing House of Bossi. When you strive to support others, it really does lift the tide for everyone…yourself included!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an artist and entrepreneur is rarely, if ever, smooth! There is a great deal of risk involved, and it takes a tremendous amount of belief in oneself and one’s mission to create something new. I’ve dealt with anxiety since becoming an artist/entrepreneur and have had to learn to be very resourceful. However, all of these challenges have made me stronger, savvier, and more resilient, which shows up on stage too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I consider myself an artist who communicates boldly through various mediums – music, poetry, fashion, and storytelling. My artistry isn’t solely inspired by an innate desire to create but by an urgency to share my life experience, my observations of the human condition, life’s beauty and struggle, societal inequality that I witness…

It is my mission to motivate my audience to contemplate life’s depths, recognize the significance of civic participation, and realize the strength inherent in their own voices. Those who are fans of my work likely appreciate it as much for the art itself as for the message and the storyline evident in each project and performance.

Additionally, my commitment to supporting other artists and sharing my platform, successes, and resources has not only been fulfilling, it’s become a core part of what I’m known for as an artist. From an art residencies with formerly incarcerated painter Halim Flowers and Ukrainian refugee Nikita Shalenny, a theater production staged in our garden, to our recent music showcase, Women Who Rock, at Aviator Nation Dreamland, which included a lineup of all-female artists, I honestly couldn’t be more proud of some of the incredible art we have helped to propel.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Two fun facts!

1.) I recently became a dual-Italian Citizen and had a song on my upcoming album with some Italian lyrics.

2.) I was a private investigator in NYC for about a year.
