Rising Stars: Meet Bubble Girls Idol Experience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bubble Girls Idol Experience.

Bubble Girls Idol Experience

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Originally meeting as volunteers with Anime Expo’s Maid Café, the idea to create an idol group to perform during the Maid Café was formed. What started out as something small and isolated to Anime Expo managed to grow into the Bubble Girls Idol Experience you (may or may not) know and love today, performing at cons such as Anime Los Angeles, Anime Pasadena, and most recently Anime Impulse.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Just after our founding, in early 2020, tragedy struck the lives of many via the COVID-19 pandemic. We were determined to bring music, joy, and idol spirit into the lives of others and while we were unable to hold any physical performances during this time, we made digital content and participated in various online conventions to get our music out into the world! Our passion for this group is what allowed us to stay strong despite the rough start and we have continued on this journey for the past four years now!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are the Bubble Girls Idol Experience! AKA a group of five friends with four brain cells and too much time on their hands. After our debut performance at Anime Los Angeles 17, we are super excited to continue performing and sharing our love for all things idol and anime. From Jpop to City Pop to Kpop, the Bubble Girls Idol Experience is here to add a pop of excitement to any stage. Our concerts include dance covers, singing covers, and even two original songs. In terms of what we are most proud of, these two songs are definitely it; Penlights, our first original song, debuted at ALA 17 and was released in fall 2023, and Love 101, our second and newest original song, debuted at ALA 19 (releasing soon???).

What sets us apart from others is our backgrounds and our energy. Some of us have performed in other capacities, and some of us were completely new to idol culture altogether when we first formed. Some of us are in school, some work and all of us make time for each other and our group despite our already overflowing calendars. As far as our energy, you can see it in our live performances. We’re into having fun and we’re into making fun of ourselves in our songs, so come and sing along!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We’ve noticed idols getting more features at conventions than ever before, and we hope to see a trend of continued growth so we can keep performing for you! We never know what the future may hold, but BGIE hopes to keep lighting up the stage with our penlights for as long as possible.
