Inspiring Conversations with Francine Young of Francine Queen of Threads

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francine Young.

Francine Young

Hi Francine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an aesthetic nurse in private practice with over 18 years of experience enhancing the beauty, health, and overall well-being of my patients. My goal is to have each person leave my office looking and feeling ever more like their best self. I have cultivated the ability to quickly (and in a highly detailed way) see where I can enhance the beauty that already exists in them. And because my skill set draws on a wide range of non-invasive techniques, I’m prepared for everything from a tiny but crucial tweak to an overall refresh. I respect how intensely personal and brave it is for anybody to come to my office to share how they feel and what they dream about for not just their face and body, but their life’s purpose. I see no separation between external and internal beauty. And my job? To assist in elevating both.

What are those techniques?

I specialize in cutting-edge, non-invasive treatments like PDO Thread Lifts, Botox, Dermal Fillers, Laser Therapies, and skin enhancements. My multi-disciplinary approach combines a solid medical background with an intuitive, artistic eye to achieve truly spectacular, age-defying results without the need for surgery. I hold in my mind’s eye each individual’s own unique bone structure, distinct features and skin quality and work carefully to enhance each aspect of these variables over time.

I also teach my techniques across these disciplines to help elevate the field of aesthetics. It’s not about trends or chasing one look or another. It’s about being so skilled, for example, that a thread becomes a powerful tool to follow detailed anatomy – threading like a couturière will fashion an intricate dress – all in the service of elevating the human form. I seek to restore the refinement each person was born with. And so, whether laser, thread, filler or exosome, each builds upon the other.

Where does this passion come from?

My aunt was a professional makeup artist and my mother an acupuncturist.  I imagine this combination of artistry and holistic medicine fueled me to transform individuals, not only their appearance but to foster a deep sense of well-being. I seek to understand patients’ life stories, interests, personalities, and aesthetic goals. This allows me to craft personalized, natural-looking results that align with each individual’s special identity.

What do you do when you are not working?

In all honesty, my aesthetic eye never sleeps. Each trip to the grocery store is a chance to study how people move and present – what sets them apart. But in my free time, I’m the proud mother to three beautiful children. I love raising them. Beyond the aesthetic world, I practice meditation and other spiritual practices. These modalities help me see people more clearly. On a lighter note, I love fashion. It provides a playful and creative outlet, and complements my artistic approach to aesthetics.

What is your educational background?

I hold bachelor’s degrees in biology and applied ecology from the University of California, Irvine, and a degree in nursing from Golden West College. To stay at the forefront of my field, I consistently update my skills, holding certificates in the latest aesthetic techniques.

I am recognized globally by medical corporations and physicians and am honored by these associations. I am a board member of Galderma GEN NOW, a trainer for Galderma Circle of Excellence (COE) Trainings, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB), a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for NovaThreads and a faculty member of LA-MCA. In addition, I am a co-owner of HealMD and YK Advanced Aesthetics Training.

Teaching and speaking engagements and the travel that requires keeps me connected with medical professionals worldwide. I love building and participating in our community. Advancing the aesthetics field is intertwined with my dedication to personally connecting with patients, ensuring their journey is a transformative, personalized, empowering experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, my journey into aesthetics was far from smooth. While working as a postpartum and OB nurse, I pursued my passion for aesthetics by juggling nursing night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Balancing the demands of raising small children, I would try to catch a few hours of sleep before heading to my laser hair removal job. I vividly remember working in a cramped room, no larger than 5 x 5, with no windows or ventilation. Good times, ha!

Transitioning from my hospital work, I held three part-time aesthetic jobs simultaneously – a necessity at a time when full-time roles in aesthetics were scarce. Juggling was a challenge. My laser hair removal job was so confined that, to this day, I can playfully claim I have a unique talent — I can discern underlying constitutional health concerns by one’s odor. It’s a quirky skill I developed working in a small room, no bigger than 5 x 5, with no windows or ventilation, and plenty of time to question my clients to verify or correct my suspicions. It’s a reminder that learning can come from even – or especially – from challenging circumstances.

Then, starting my own practice marked a significant turning point. Buying my first laser was a real leap – doubting whether I could attract clients. That moment required faith — both in myself and in God and trusting I had learned enough to run my own business. As an Asian woman with three children – I overcame the fear and uncertainty, shaping the business I have today.

What else should we know about your business?

I have an amazing staff that are the backbone of my boutique practice. They are as dedicated as I am to my outcomes. We are quite an enthusiastic and loving crew.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I imagine those who know me or my brand might not be aware that, by nature, I am very shy. While my work and brand reflect confidence and a passion for personal connections, the reality is, I navigate the world with a quiet and reserved disposition. It’s this quiet that allows me the time and attention to cultivate my eye. To really see people to the best of my ability. While likely not always evident in the public sphere, it adds an extra layer of depth to my interactions.
