Meet Matt DJ Solstice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt DJ Solstice.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started when a friend downloaded a DJing software on my computer back in college. Having been a huge music fan and collector since childhood, I took the opportunity to learn and master that software, which led to a few local house party gigs. Working my way through bars, clubs, and corporate events, I decided to tackle weddings in 2016 with a friend’s wedding first. After that went off without a hitch, I figured it was time to explore that area more. Now we do a large number of weddings every year, along with school dances, corporate events, and everything else in need of quality entertainment!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The constant struggle I face is the amount of DJs out there charging insane rates and only providing two speakers and a cheap light bar. We bring professional-level production to weddings, creating an atmosphere and environment on the dance floor where you just don’t want to leave.

The other struggle is that 90% of our leads are organic, so I am ALWAYS capturing content.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ who specializes in high-energy weddings and events with a production side. We provide a computer-controlled light show that truly adds to the overall vibe of the event and goes with the music. This provides a more “show” style feel.

In terms of music, I specialize in EDM and Latin. We play all genres and try to find new and unique remixes to original classics. Reading the crowd and adjusting on the fly is what we do!

What were you like growing up?
I was a bit of a friendless individual growing up. I have ADHD, so I wasn’t so easy to get along with, having a mind that races everywhere and no sense of impulse control. It’s helped me grow as a person, and I don’t miss any little details now because of it!
