Conversations with Saul Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Saul Gomez.

Saul Gomez

Saul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins at 11 years old. I googled “I’m 11, and I want to be famous.” From the Google search, I came across an acting school in Beverly Hills, I filled out the form and soon was accepted in. I loved everything about the class, I was doing really good to the point I had the opportunity to fly out to New York for a junior showcase. That opportunity didn’t come free, and my family didn’t have the funds for that trip, and this is where my professional acting career ended. At the time I had the phone Sprint Instinct, and I noticed when recording it gave you the upload to YouTube button, and so I did. I began to remake MadTv sketches with my brother and upload them on YouTube. I began to pursue YouTube, and through the years, my quality would increase. AT the time, pursuing YouTube wasn’t known as a career, but I loved to entertain and was going to make it into a career one way or another. My YouTube career then ended once I graduated high school because now it was time to grow up, stop being silly, and get a job. The years that followed were the most depressing I have had. Jumping from job to job not knowing what to do with my life but always having the itch to record a video here and there.

Fast forward to 2020, I am working as an Amazon delivery driver, from working everyday and began to get tired of the music I had and decided to give podcasts a try. I specifically remember typing in the search bar, “Mexican American Podcast” and couldn’t find a show of people just like me cracking jokes and having a good time. That’s when it dawned on me that I should start my own podcast. I then reached out to my childhood friend and now music producer, Tarro, if he would like to help fund my idea, and with no hesitation, he sent me the money I needed to buy the basic recording equipment I needed. I then called two of my friends who are now my co-hosts, Cesar Sotelo and Aaron Caraveo, if they would like to join me in filming a pilot episode just for fun. We ended up filming and had such a fun time and cracked nothing but jokes. I then began to clip the podcast and put them on TikTok, where we quickly blew up. By episode 5, we were known for going viral! I continued at this, still working at Amazon, and came to the point where I had just enough to complete my rent but not my car payment. So, I decided to sell my car and quit my job to pursue the podcast. I had three months of rent money in my account, and I was determined to make it work in those three months.

As the third month was approaching, I knew I had to act fast. That’s when I decided to start a second podcast, “I.E In Besties” a show I produce hosted by three Latinas. The show grew in popularity really quickly and relieved all my stress from having to pay bills. I noticed I still had more time in my hands to do more and that’s when I started two new shows, I.E in Foodie and I.E in Movies. I then realized I bit a little bit more off than I can chew and ended both shows. Now only having two shows I.E In Friends and I.E In Besties and started a new show again called Bueno Bueno which is quickly becoming a hit. I then started the digital media company Inland Entertainment Network as a play on words to the “Inland Empire” a collection of cities in southern California. With proof of success, I then became a consultant and Mitu, a Latino digital media company. I am now working on stand-up comedy and focusing on expanding my company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. As a first-generation Mexican American, this is a new frontier and gaining the support of my family was a tough one as I quit government jobs and dropped out of college to pursue entertainment. Now my family is 100% supportive as they see this is something I take seriously and work on every day. But the most stressful part about being your own boss is the work you put in decides how much money you will make the following month so I have to have my foot on the gas at all times.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in entertainment, anything where I can make another person laugh, smile, or motivate. I produce and host 3 successful podcasts all totaling 200K downloads a month. I do acting gigs and specialize in consulting for creating successful podcasts. I am known for my humor and inspiration to my community. I do anything I can to help someone follow their dreams by providing valuable information and pointing them to the right direction. What I am most proud of is being from the Inland Empire, California and getting my podcast on one of the biggest billboards in Time Square. What sets me apart from the rest is that I want to be the best in helping people chase after their dreams.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Number one is consistency, you have to show up every day and give 8+ hours to your dreams. Number two is delusion, an undying faith knowing it will work and trusting yourself it will work no matter what. Number three is communication, the people you meet can change your life so always be a kind genuine person. Learn to forgive, to understand, and be a helping hand.
