Daily Inspiration: Meet Isabella Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Taylor.

Isabella Taylor

Hi Isabella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started modeling during the pandemic back in 2020. Alot of the photoshoots that I did were creative photoshoots. Whenever I had a vision that I wanted to bring to life, I would contact photographers in my area to see if they would be willing to collaborate with me. In the beginning, I navigated through a lot by myself. I was my own hairstylist, wardrobe stylist, creative director and manager. I invested a lot into myself and my career. And at the time, I didn’t even have my own car, so I would Uber to my photoshoots. I started my off career doing creative photoshoots and then later transitioned into professional modeling. Being a 5’4 model, I knew that I would’ve have to work a lot harder and have strong confidence to prove myself. I knew that I would have to stick to my vision no matter what I was told. Fast forward to today, I have accomplished so much as a petite freelance model. I’ve been acknowledged by Tyra Banks, published in over 10 magazines, walked in runway shows, modeled for big brands, built platforms for myself, and been offered modeling contracts internationally.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There are so many nights I’ve cried and wanted to quit. I thought to myself, why am I not good enough? Why am I constantly overlooked? Being in an industry that so many aspiring talents and faces, it can become very hard and discouraging. You have to be smart. You have to find a way to stand out. You have to be confident even at times where you just feel horrible about yourself. Most importantly, you have to be safe and aware. May people like to prey on and take advantage of new talent and if you dare to speak up, you will be labeled as “difficult to work with'” I’ve had many times where people claimed they wanted to help me but really they just wanted to get thousands of dollars out of me. I’ve had people be straight-up disrespectful to me by pushing my boundaries. I’ve had times where I’m in the studio, and people are trying to flirt with me or insinuate that because I’m a model that also means I sell s*x. I’ve dealt with all of this on top of being a 5’4 model. I’ve been told that I don’t belong on a runway or that “I need to leave modeling to tall girls.” But I never stopped, my skin just grew thicker.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a freelance model. I do beauty, commercial, print, and fashion modeling. I would say I’m known as “thee short model.” That is what I’ve built my brand around since I switched to professional modeling. I let everyone know that I am a petite model, that I am not ashamed of it, and that I will make it. I’m grateful to say my journey has gained so much support of the years because of social media. That is one of the reasons that I cannot quit, I wouldn’t just be letting myself down but the people who have supported me as well. I think I’m most proud of my journey and how much I’ve grown. I’m grateful that it wasn’t an easy journey because I have learned so much that could make an influence and an impact. What sets myself apart from others is my passion and my faith. They fuel the fire within me and mold into a better woman. With those two things that I know that I can take on any challenge.
