Check Out Alex Cottrell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Cottrell.

Alex Cottrell

Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved here from Little Rock, Arkansas. We don’t really have a lot of food options where I’m from so I started recording videos to document my experience eating at all these cool LA spots for the first time. The videos started actually helping the businesses get customers so I kept it going. We started going to neighborhoods that normal media outlets don’t go to. We started doing videos where we give back to the community and help local businesses as well as giving back to regular people in the community. We have been very blessed in the platform we created for the people and it is nothing without the people. The past few months have been crazy. I quit my corporate job to do content full time and now I get companies to sponsor me to eat and be a good person.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve been blessed. People think because I quit my job things are easier. It’s actually much harder. I’m basically running my own business now and I wear all the hats. It’s tough but The community has really embraced me and my cousin out here. It’s all love wherever we go. We have a strong purpose so it makes it worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think people like us because we are authentic genuine people. We just go out and have fun. No matter if it’s a celebrity guest or a stranger we like to vibe with everyone.

I eat a lot of food but people actually rock with me as a person. So no matter if I’m eating, jumping out of a plane, making a movie or whatever…people support what I’m doing because we pour so much into our community

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We have been fortunate to meet a lot of amazing people out here in LA. I’d say just be ready when the opportunity presents itself. You’ll run into a lot of people in this city, don’t be afraid to actually get to know them and be yourself. You never know who knows who. I’m from Arkansas where people talk to everyone and are super nice for no reason! I treat everyone I meet the same way, no matter how many followers you have. I genuinely just like people and expect nothing in return from anyone. I think that attitude has helped me meet people and make connections out here
