Conversations with Jacqueline Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Reyes.

Jacqueline Reyes

Hi Jacqueline, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in entertainment in some shape or form for about as long as I can remember. As an LA native, I started dancing at the age of two and continued to do so growing up in musical theatre camps, competitive show choir (Glee anyone?), and working as a dancer at Disneyland right out of high school (shout out to my sister Allison). My Disney journey gave me the unique opportunity to travel Asia as a performer. However, upon returning to the States and graduating college, I quickly returned to modeling and commercial work, which I started ten years ago, and continue to do so now full time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am beyond grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve had in my journey. At the beginning of my career, I was told I should model by a decent amount of people, and with a little help from a high school friend, I was signed to my first agency on my first try. I remember one of the first big jobs I booked was for Anastasia Beverly Hills- and I was soooo thrilled! That being said, my journey, like every other artist out there, hasn’t been all smooth sailing. This industry is a giant emotional roller coaster once you decide to ride. Of course, the highs are amazing but the lows exist as well- we’ve all struggled in some capacity on our journey. I think most of us have worried at some point about money or rent, how much we are booking or felt like we’ve hit a wall. We’ve worried about our abilities, our talents and wondered “Am I enough?” on some emotional or mental level. Everyone has experienced disappointment when a big deal or opportunity falls through. And I’m no different.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a model and commercial actor, I shoot for fun quite frequently, and I absolutely adore it. I love putting together and trying different looks from what I’m usually cast as. I enjoy working with as many photographers as I can and learning from them. I love the lasting connections I’ve made in my ten years’ time. Plus- getting my own home studio has really allowed me to play creatively more frequently. However, I think what really makes me stand apart is my upbringing in Los Angeles and my belief in quality over quantity – I’m thankful I got to grow up surrounded by different cultures than my own. I’m thankful my parents taught me how to persevere and withstand tenacious longevity. I’m thankful for my education. I’m thankful I got to travel the world and learn. And I’m thankful for my friends that keep me sane, real, and true to myself in an industry that encourages anything but.

Any big plans?
As I celebrate my ten-year mark, I look forward to establishing myself as a brand and dabbling more into different creative fields. While I’m ecstatic to have worked for brands like Sirius XM Radio, Sonos, Louis Vuitton, and Roscato Wines in the past year alone, I also debuted in my first short film, “New Beginnings”. As for the future, I enjoy acting commercially and hope to continue to book big campaigns. But most importantly, I’m excited to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the industry, and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.
