Today we’d like to introduce you to Riya Parveen.
Hi Riya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
‘Entertainment’ Was always a part of this world, in some or the other way. It’s enriching the lives of people around the globe by bringing light in their darkened world. I got a taste of performing arts when I was in class 1st. I used to watch television a lot with my parents. I have been completely fascinated by the sheer ability of how much an actor can change people’s way of thinking and the way they’re living their lives. Thoroughly intrigued by its aura, I decided to pursue my higher education in the field of performing arts. I want to become an actor so that I can bring joy to sorrowful faces and to show people the world through my eyes. In this modern world, sorrow is winning over happiness for some or the other reasons and according to me at this point of time, ‘Entertainment’ is the utmost need and for that, becoming a good artist is really necessary.
I used to sing, dance and act since I was a small kid, but at that time I didn’t knew it’s knew its importance or even why people watch others on T.V or big screens. The only thing I knew was the amount of joy I felt when I performed in my school’s annual functions and the audience along with my parents appreciated and clapped for me, but as the time passed by, I gradually understood the importance and flavour of entertainment. That’s why I am here today, on my journey to become an amazing actor. I started watching movies, soap-operas and later on tried imitating the roles played by the actors I was keenly interested in acting. Besides watching and imitating, I am always forward to accumulate as much knowledge as I can through every possible source available.
During my school and college days, I actively participated in different kinds of competitions held at that time. Now, it’s my dream and destiny to become a successful actor and inspire the next generation of artists.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As you know, Life isn’t a bed of roses..it has thorns too, nothing is easy on this planet..you have to struggle a lot to reap the fruits of your hard work later in life..it’s a journey full of ups and downs..you just have to keep going no matter what..just be determined and confident enough to achieve your dreams..never take things as impossible, always remember good things take time and nothing is impossible here, it’s just that its all difficult but with hardworking and trust upon your own self, you can do anything you want to. I had my own obstacles too and I am still facing them..my dad wanted me to be a professor or an officer, but I always dreamt of becoming an actor and a popstar. I fought for my dreams no matter what, I made my parents believe in me and they eventually understood what I want, my capabilities and finally they said… ‘GO HONEY, CHASE YOUR DREAMS AND MAKE US PROUD, WE BELIEVE IN YOU’. Now I am here, where I always wanted to be. All I know is I have to keep working hard until I reach my destination, I just need to have faith on myself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an aspiring actor. I just started my career in Los Angeles. I came here all the way from India chasing my dreams, I did some theatre work back in my home country, I just graduated from New York Film Academy, Los Angeles and it was a great journey as I learned a lot about acting, now I have started working as a model and background actor, step by step I’ll improve myself and get myself booked for bigger projects. I am proud of myself because I think not everyone from my country gets the support and opportunity I got in my life. I am happy in whatever I am doing and I believe in myself that’s the most important thing for achieving the thing one dreams of. I specialize in singing, acting, horseback riding, motorbiking, improvising, dancing and many more things, I am multi-talented you know..hahaha, that’s what everybody say. I am known as a nightingale in my native place for my singing. I think there’s something in everyone that sets them apart from others and the same goes for me. Everybody loves me for what I am. I think I have the courage, determination and patience that not everyone has nowadays and that sets me apart from others. I know my capabilities and I also know how to pave the way that leads towards success.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Everything on this planet is important for everyone in some or the way and for me, CONFIDENCE, INTEGRITY, COMMUNICATION, PASSION, CREATIVITY, OPTIMISM, DISCIPLINE, LEADERSHIP, COURAGE, PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, MOTIVATION, CURIOSITY, EMPATHY, ADAPTABILITY, DRIVE, CONNECTION, FLEXIBILITY, WILLPOWER and most importantly AMBITION are the keys to success, it just depends on how well you use them. The biggest successes often start out as fantastical goals. From the arts to the sciences, those who have the capacity to think originally have a greater chance of success.
