Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Prata.
Patricia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I think my first debut as a storyteller and performer was when I was born because I was born during the Carnaval celebrations in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. Since I was a little girl in Rio, I loved modeling, singing, acting and dancing. My mom worked as a model before she marry my father and she told me that I got my first commercial as Johnson & Johnson baby model. When I was seven years old, I start studying Ballet, piano and performing at school plays. Soon enough I started modeling for Ford Models Rio and Elite Models Rio (Sergio Mattos). After I got my BA in Theater and Acting, I transitioned into TV, working for many Brazilian TV networks such as TV Globo. When I moved to the US, I worked a lot on TV commercials, print, theater and musicals with my theater and dance companies. I have been modeling, acting, producing, dancing and singing everywhere they would let me for as long as I can remember. ! From MTV music videos, TV commercials, TV episodes, soap operas, feature films and theater. (I performed at the Ford Theater with The Istanbul National Ballet and Opera, El Portal Theater North Hollywood and many other theaters).
From TV Shows for networks such as Sony Pictures, ABC, NBC, Univision, Telemundo, TV Estrella, just to mention a few… I was raised most of my adult life in California, where I studied at acting schools such as Howard Fine Studio and Speiser Sturges Acting Studios. My first TV Pilot won Best IFQ Awards in 2012 (Beverly Hills) and another one of my projects won a Telly Awards in 2015. Right now, I work as Co-Producer, Production Design and Executive Producer. My new feature film “Simon Says” is in Post Production right now. I’m blessed with two amazing SAG franchised agencies representing me as actress – BMG Talents ( Michelle Thompson – My main agent for film and commercial in Los Angeles and New York ) and Wild Models San Francisco that represents me mostly for print and SAG work in San Francisco area… My career has being fun, creative, unexpected and a joyful journey, where every day I press on and thank God for my blessings. What can I say !? I work hard and I love it! I enjoy every moment and focus in the bigger picture. I believe that God has a plan for my life and I’m just following His plan.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, the most challenging part of any actor’s life is the rejection. A great working actor once told me that: …”It takes me 26 auditions to land one great SAG job”…
Los Angeles is very competitive and everybody has an impressive resume so it is not easy to compete in the big league.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a SAG actress and Co-Producer, as an actress I’m specialized in storytelling by acting, dancing and singing. As Co-Producer I’m specialized in meeting the film budget, hire the right talents to deliver the best artistic and technical quality for my feature films within the budget. I’m known for my creativity and I’m proud of my work ethic and transparency… I want to make the audience to catharsis when they watch my movies and inspire them to want to become better people.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My birthday parties and Christmas presents.
