Rising Star: Meet LNZO’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to LNZO.

Hi LNZO, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lorenzo, better known online by the name LNZO, a model and a Hispanic social media personality. I have always been fascinated by the world of fashion and modeling, often spending hours flipping through magazines and watching runway shows for hours online. I loved striking poses in front of the mirror imagining myself on the New York Fashion Week runway. On May 19th, 2019, while in high school, I requested my friend Nohemi Ramos Santoyo, a budding photographer to capture images of me, a photo shoot that changed my life. The result was a portfolio dear to my heart. I was both excited and nervous, I remember leaving my first shoot with the biggest smile ever, in awe of the magic we had created that day. I felt an immense sense of liberation and confidence that I had never experienced before. It was then that I knew that I had found my passion, I wanted to have that feeling forever.

I felt like I was born in front of the camera. Nohemi was impressed by my natural talent and urged me to pursue modeling. I submitted the portfolio to various modeling agencies, and months later, I received a modeling contract from a very big clothing company, I was just an ordinary high school student. Modeling was like a piece of me that had been long lost, we found each other a perfect match. I did part-time modeling while I finished high school and then attended college. I worked with a variety of clients including boutiques, regional brands, and international retailers that have gotten me where I am today. I never forget my humble beginnings and I am always grateful for the opportunity that my high school photo shoot gave me. I work hard and never lost sight of my dreams. I use my presence online to promote important causes, such as body positivity and mental health awareness. I am an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry and I use my social media to inspire others to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their dreams.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My high school experience wasn’t that of a normal high school student. It was scary with a lot of pressure but fun. I become quite popular with time. Being the most followed kid on social media in my entire school came along with some pros and cons which made me go through non-ordinary experiences. Being the only student in my high school pursuing a social media influencer/ modeling career was wild, balancing between modeling and excelling in school work wasn’t easy but I made it through the help of my parents and manager. I had goals I wanted to achieve. The modeling and social media industry is highly competitive with many other models and influencers vying for the same opportunities and attention. There is often a lot of pressure to maintain a certain physique and appearance, which can be stressful and require significant time and effort. I try to eat healthily, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. It’s important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally, especially in an industry like this where there can be a lot of pressure to look a certain way. People also have certain stereotypes and assumptions associated with male models and social media influencers, such as being superficial or unintelligent. We deserve respect and be treated as equals to other careers.

Often as an influencer, you will need to manage your social media presence and create content that resonates with your audience. This can be time-consuming and require a lot of creativity. It is important to maintain authenticity and avoid appearing too scripted or fake. This can be a challenge when working with brands or trying to grow your following. Finally, as a public figure, you may receive criticism and negative comments online. It’s important to develop a thick skin and learn how to handle criticism constructively. Despite the challenges and ups and downs that come with modeling, I have remained dedicated to my craft and continue to work hard to achieve my goals. With each new opportunity that came my way, I feel grateful for the chance to pursue my passion and make a positive impact in the world.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I use my presence online to support organizations that promote body positivity and mental health to create awareness through partnerships. I take good care of myself health-wise and mentally, and through this, I hope to inspire people to take good care of themselves and others. I specialize in clothing and food. I am known to dress well because I believe clothes play an important role in promoting body positivity by allowing individuals to express their unique style and personality, regardless of their body type or size. Wearing clothes that fit well and make you feel comfortable and confident can boost one’s self-esteem and promote positive body image. Conversely, wearing clothes that don’t fit properly or that you don’t feel comfortable in can negatively impact your body image and self-confidence. I often receive feedback from interactions with fans online or out in the real world as I go about my daily business about how my story and what I do online have helped them live better and more fulfilling life. That is my purpose in life that even one person lived happily because I was alive. I am an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry and I want to inspire others to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their dreams.

What are your plans for the future?
While modeling is my main focus right now, I’m also really interested in exploring other creative endeavors. I’ve been taking acting classes and have started to do a bit of acting work on the side, so I could see myself pursuing that more in the future. I’m also really passionate about music, so who knows? Maybe I’ll release my first music single this year, or better yet, feature a special guest whom you will all love. Social media influencers play an important role in shaping the opinions and attitudes of their followers, and I believe that it is important for influencers to use their platform to promote positive messages and values that can benefit society as a whole. This includes promoting environmental sustainability, social justice, and promoting mental and physical well-being. That is my plan.
