Hi Sripal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The plan was always to become a filmmaker but I had to take the long route. While working as a Software Engineer in Bangalore I got an opportunity to travel to the U.S., and I thought if I took it up I can attend a film school in the U.S. eventually.
However, when it was time the numbers didn’t make sense and there was no way I could afford a full time film school. So, I continued to work as Software Engineer and pursued a few part-time filmmaking and writing courses from UCLA and NYFA, made short films and eventually produced and directed my debut feature film “How is that for a Monday?”.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Broadly speaking, it was a smooth road. If there were any struggles most of it was internal such as being able to come up with compelling stories and screenplays, following a strong work ethic, etc. Also, being an introvert of sorts, communication had been a challenge at times, which is one of the essential skills of a filmmaker.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At this point of time, I’m an independent filmmaker and debuted with the feature film named “How is that for a Monday?”. It was made in a very small budget and with a limited crew given the Covid restrictions at the time of the production. However, it’s an interesting film and I strongly suggest you watch it if you are into noir, indies, comedy thrillers or socially relevant movies.

What does success mean to you?
Success for me is being able to make the movies and tell the stories I wanted to tell and being able to spend time with the family and friends.
