Hidden Gems: Meet TT Tran of TT Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to TT Tran.

Hi TT, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For sure, thanks for having me here! So long story short – as long as I can remember, I have had a deep longing to do something bigger, something meaningful, but had no exact conceptualization. Back then, I was working with multiple leaders of large-scale corporations in the Netherlands (grateful but unfulfilled), and I was in a toxic, twelve-year relationship with who I thought would be my life partner. Coincidentally, I was introduced to this book, “The Power of Now”, and discovered the impact of self-awareness, which inspired me to take the leap, make a big change in my life and leave what no longer served me. I decided to move to Australia to gain some space and clarity on my next steps.

My approach to working with my clients is quite dynamic, whether helping them think critically, respond and perform on an elevated level, transition into the CEO role, or create and develop frameworks and business strategies. However, neither was my road to becoming a business strategy consultant.

I met my boyfriend right before I left Australia. Then, we traveled to New Zealand, where his family resides. As active individuals, we regularly worked out at his uncle’s large boxing gym, Ringside Health & Fitness. I noticed how one-third of the building needed to be utilized optimally, and immediately, ideas came flowing on how I could help revamp significant parts of their business. When I overheard that his uncle was open to exploring changes, I saw my opportunity, drafted a lean business plan proposal, and pitched it to the owners.

Mind you, they are a well-established business of more than ten years; who was I to pitch a business proposal asking for an investment to start this project? A week after the pitch, he put down $60,000. After five weeks of developing the branding, consulting, doing business deals, renovating the space, accomplishing pre-sales and marketing activities, and organizing the opening event, we launched the fitness studio as a sub-brand to the boxing gym, RS12.

After a few months of opening and observing the newly launched studio’s growth and potential, it became clear what I wanted to pursue. This time, I would do it much more prominent and have complete control over the decision-making process. Build a brand, and franchise it internationally, allowing me to travel worldwide while consulting the franchise owners.

I’m so grateful for my experience with large corporations. It allowed me to observe how my application of strategies unfolded. As part of the management team, I learned different responsibilities’ best practices and the overall manager’s day-to-day operations. It helped me develop my abilities, so I could apply them to RS12 and identify how I wanted to run my own business and the values I wanted to embody – energizing my passion for leadership.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Haha, no – I’ve met myself over and over again, deeper each time. Looking back, I love every bit of the journey and the people I meet and connect with. I got to learn and understand myself on an even deeper level and grew from it. I still am.

I worked myself into burnout by juggling a transition into a new country, starting my business, and rediscovering my relationship with my partner after a year and a half long-distance relationship. Alongside working a full-time job, I was in life coach training and consulting entrepreneurs. Four months after starting my business, I migrated overseas to join my partner, and we spent five months gutting/renovating our apartment.

After RS12, the next step was studying to obtain my NASM Personal Training Certificate when the pandemic hit. My plan fell apart, but I was determined to make it work. The lockdown gave me a lot of time to reflect…what if it doesn’t necessarily have to be in the order I had planned? I started researching what it would take to offer business consulting and stumbled upon mindset coaching.

At the same time, my partner – in a loving, non-judgmental way, helped me become aware of the contributions I’d made in my previous relationship. I recognized my agency in my actions, behaviors, and environment. I discovered that my partner was unintentionally using coaching methodologies to empower me. It shifted many things on a core level. That’s when I knew this was how I wanted to approach consulting and helping business owners and leaders.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Coaching founders and leaders to shift their perspectives makes consulting much more powerful to produce fulfilling progress. You can have access to all the tools, strategies, and methodologies. Chances those resources won’t bring effective value to your team and company without first overcoming your mental barriers, acquiring self-awareness, and strengthening your emotional intelligence.

Business owners need to understand where their business is and what specific roadblocks prevent them from achieving their objectives to apply strategies effectively. What works for one company doesn’t necessarily work for another business.

I love working with ambitious entrepreneurs and visionary CEOs who have hit a plateau in their company or position, making progress in their business by coaching and consulting them on leadership performance, team management, business strategies, operation optimization, and making aligned strategic decisions. It excites me to connect with entrepreneurs and leaders who have started their businesses with a strong vision and desire to impact their communities.

There is a healthier and more aligned way to do business, starting with clarity and effective leadership. I thrive on getting to the core level and making potent shifts. The transformation is then far more significant.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Most definitely, I use the Fit Mind app to practice my meditation, I use the Audible app to listen to books during my runs at the park, and the Human Design app to learn more about my clients and my own energy type.

I listen to different podcasts about entrepreneurship, mindset, spirituality, leadership, and investments such as “The Crazy Ones”, “Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life”, “Coaching Real Leaders”, and “Jereshia Said”.

A few of my favorite books are “How to Break the Habit of Being Yourself” by Joe Dispenza, “You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth” by Jen Sincero, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin Sharma. “Starting with WHY” BY Simon Sinek. I can go on… I’m currently reading “Extreme Ownership” written by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin about what it takes to be an effective leader.
