Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Kwan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For over 20 years, I have always tried different diet programs to get myself healthy. I always kept failing because of social settings and surroundings. During college years, I gained a lot of weight and became more interested with taking care of my health and well-being. I took a nutrition class in college for fun to learn about foods and how our body works. I learned so many things about habits and how “diets” don’t work, but my problem was always trying to find what works for my lifestyle.
I love eating especially sweet and salty junk foods. I have tried so many methods of trying to get myself back on a healthy lifestyle track but always failed because of my surroundings. When I would go out with friends or family, I would sometimes choose a healthier option, but my peers would tell me “to live a little” or “wow I could never eat like you! I love food way too much!”. I always felt like the odd one for not drinking alcohol, not eating dessert after a full meal, or not “eating” anything and everything at a buffet. I didn’t listen to my body nor my feelings because I wanted to feel like I “fit in” with everyone. I wanted to feel “normal” like everyone.
“Fitting in” caused me to make unhealthier choice options. It caused me to feel sluggish, fatigue, heavy, unattractive and overall unhealthy. Eating unhealthy or not being mindful of what I was doing to my health, became a bad habit – I had an addiction to sugar and sweet and I would always take the easy road and follow everyone else (which was doing nothing for me). I wanted a change, but I blamed everyone else for messing me up on my path to well-being.
In January 2022, I got Covid for my first time. I thought to myself (during my two weeks quarantine), that it was my fault and I should have taken better care of my body. I know that it’s not really a big deal to some people and I probably would eventually get it anyway, but in that time, it made me realize that I should take care of my health again.
I came across a before and after weightloss photo of one of my friends (Natalie Little). I met her at several events in the past. She would sell cupcakes and I would promote my beauty studio services. I decided to try the program she was coaching for because she had lost 30 pounds in three months (during the holidays) and I wanted to change.
Fast forward, I lost 20 pounds. I feel great energy, better sleep and confident again. I decided I wanted to be part of this movement of making people all over the world feel amazing again. So I became a health coach. It starts with our habits and I help guide people through their weight loss struggles through the help of our program. I feel like my journey to find myself has led me to help others find themselves and it all started with this program.
Today, I have helped many people change their habits to better healthier habits. Not only are they losing weight, but they are finding themselves again. They are finding more purpose in their life and they are being more mindful of their choices. I am thankful to be able to help impact people’s lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t always easy and still there are some challenges, some people are not ready to change and some people don’t want to ever change and that’s fine. However, I have worked with many who felt what I felt, and they were ready to take a chance with me and make that change. They were tired of feeling sluggish, unattractive, brain fog – they were tired of taking medications and making so many doctor visits. They were tired of being tired.
There will always be struggles in our journey to a healthier lifestyle. We just need the guidance to learn how to get back on track again and that’s where I come in.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been a makeup artist for over 20 years. I have always loved making people feel and look amazing. I love being able to bring out the natural beauty inside a person and now with this opportunity to health coaching, I am able to make people reach their optimal health goals and feel good inside again.
What sets me apart from everyone is that I am able to make a person feel great not only on their outer beauty but now in their inner beauty and wellness.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be patient. The biggest part of growth is being patient with not only yourself as you grow, but with the people you are working with. Everyone is different and everyone has their own past struggles and personalities. Learn to be passionate and love on people.
