Check Out Andrew Hall’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Hall. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Andrew Hall is a British-born artist based in Los Angeles. After three decades of working with such diverse elements as moving liquids, smoke and vapor, pure light and floating bubbles, he decided to capture his unique photography for residential commissions and creative spaces.

From designers and curators to interior architects and organizations, Andrew Hall Editions now collaborates with people who recognize the transformative power of one-of-a-kind images and challenges the perception of what photographs can be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hall’s work has been constantly. Evolving. While many photographers move from analog to digital, Andrew made a decision to return to the Darkroom and produce physical prints.

The new pieces for Andrew Hall Editions coincided serendipitously with Andrew expanding his now renowned black and white darkroom at The School of Light where Andrew mentors emerging artists.

So, it’s not always been a direct road, but the pivots have been amazing and unexpected.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Andrew Hall’s work reflects an ongoing exploration of The Power of the Moment. Returning to the Darkroom and producing one of a kind physical pieces created with the DNA of photography – light – has felt like a quantum leap forward.

This latest work extends Hall’s exploration of fluid dynamics to create a new language within abstract photography.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That the Journey is the Destination. What’s random becomes deliberate and consistent exploration and experimentation yields visual magic.
