Daily Inspiration: Meet Sylvia Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Park.

Hi Sylvia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I fell into it all really, the writing, the radio stuff, and the podcasting mostly through my friend, Randi, she’s a radio vet and she brought me on and here we are. My background is in Social Work and working with the AAPI community and she was working on a project that needed my expertise and I was more than happy to help.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, I’d say it’s been smooth. I didn’t realize how much time and work really goes into writing and recording.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When I’m not being a creative, I work for a local non-profit, the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA). We have programs that span from Mental Health to Youth and Workforce and Civic Engagement.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The first podcast that I ever listened to is Welcome to Nightvale, I guess you’d label it as sci-fi. So, that’s always the first podcast I always recommend to people. It’s a radio show about the strange things that happen in this strange town and the weather report is usually a song from an underground band or musician. It’s really cool.
