Life & Work with Alex Liggins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Liggins.

Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a Milwaukee native, I see myself as a Renaissance man. I feel like I’ve lived a number of different lives before moving to LA.

From working as a golf caddy to selling tickets for the NBA/WNBA; from Instacarting during the pandemic to selling insurance and everything in between.

With so many different experiences in so many different cities, it was natural for me to transition into acting; doing a little bit of everything, coupled with life’s events, prepared me to take this journey that began 3 1/2 years ago.

Since then, I’ve attained my Master’s Degree in Film Acting from New York Film Academy (LA Campus) while graduating at the top of my class.

As I continue to strive towards accomplishing this year’s goals, I feel blessed and extremely fortunate to do what I love: acting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only thing smooth was a 6-iron swing by a club member I caddied for back home. We called it: “A Smoove Six!”

Aside from that, it could appear that way, but the road has been anything but smooth.

Since I began to transition my life as an actor, I had the rare lens of learning film and acting in person, only to have it drastically altered; acting education to be taught solely through technology was extremely difficult.

Attending class, filming, even putting on live events through Zoom, amongst other things, was very tough. As an artist, being mentally focused is critical to one’s success. Anything that deviates me from that, you can call that performance “basura”.

So staying locked in while blocking out any problems or outside noise is critical to my success, especially when I’m in front of the camera.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I continue to develop my craft as an actor, I’m looking forward to taking on more challenging roles. With the upcoming action projects on the horizon, I have make sure that my body is in proper shape; to put on a performance that’s worth watching.

When I filmed in Colombia and still, to this date, has been one of the most gracious experiences in my life to be a part of. To be involved with a team of forward-thinking go-getters, from sunrise to sunset, was an amazing experience.

Ultimately, I’m just a hometown Midwest kid, that grew up with Southern values, who has East coast confidence, that lives on the West coast.

How do you define success?
Success is being able to do the things that make you happy, simple and plain. For me, that’s in front of the camera.
