Check Out Manoela Wunder’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manoela Wunder.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My musical journey started before I learned how to talk. I have taken lessons and taught myself to play multiple instruments, however my main focus has always been the violin. After two performance degrees in classical violin, I moved to LA as a freelancer and was immediately enamored with the musical diversity this city offers in abundance. A few years ago, I realized I was missing a creative outlet that I simply wasn’t achieving being hired to play with artists and at different types of events. I finally began taking the time to write my own music and collaborate with producers, and it has proven to be an extraordinarily rewarding path with endless possibilities!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an artist is a lifestyle and a pursuit that you dedicate your existence to, but it certainly has its share of roadblocks every step of the way. Staying true to yourself and avoiding comparing yourself to others are the main challenges from a moral point of view. The most significant financial struggles are persevering for what seems like an endless road without significant financial compensation and being your own team before you have the means to hire outside help.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I write vocal and instrumental music that combines various styles and is made up of complex chord progressions and heartfelt lyrics. I am known for being a multi-faceted composer who is very much herself onstage, and this is reflected in my energy and engagement with the audience when I perform. The uniqueness of my sound lies in the influence of my Brazilian heritage combined with my classical music education and my love for jazz and pop/indie.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I subscribe to several email newsletters that I read on a regular basis. A few notable ones that come to mind are Ari’s Take, Best Friends Club, Judy Stakee, and Disc Makers. Apart from those, I keep myself busy tracking my streaming analytics and making sure my social media platforms are updated with consistent content.
