Meet Rachel Arbuckle of 2000 Paces Photo Organizing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Arbuckle.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The inspiration for 2000 Paces Photo Organizing came in 2014, when a series of fierce fires tore through San Diego County, the largest of which started on the mountain just behind my home. The speed at which these fires were moving left me with only minutes to grab a few items before evacuating. My first instinct was to gather all of my photographs, but I panicked upon realizing my precious memories were all over my home in boxes, picture frames, and albums. I grabbed anything I could get to quickly before rushing to safety with my family.

After many days of stress and worry, we were lucky enough to return home to the memories we were forced to leave behind and thankfully, our home was spared. Unfortunately, so many others in our community were not so lucky and had lost everything, including their own beautiful memories. This experience not only solidified my commitment to protect my family’s memories, but galvanized the idea in my mind that this protection needed to be shared with everyone, which has led to what 2000 Paces Photo Organizing is today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many businesses, I started 2000 Paces Photo Organizing out of my home, which means it wasn’t always smooth sailing while I got up and running. Entering a relatively new industry (or at least one with a very small niche of professionals) meant not having much of a foundation to take inspiration from, initially. Through considerable trial, error, research and practice I was able to craft processes centered around discovering and creating the most efficient approaches. In turn, these processes allowed me to develop the high-end service our clients deserve and lay a foundation for my future team to build on as the company grew.

It’s not always easy building a house without blueprints, but ultimately the experience helped me understand and appreciate what my business has to offer and reinforce why I started the journey in the first place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I didn’t realize it at the time, but my decision to leave the security of a corporate job to start a business in a brand new industry was one of the biggest risks of my life. Nevertheless, I was driven by my passion to provide this important service to others, which strengthened my resolve to make my business successful. Despite the challenges, my unwavering commitment to my clients and my vision allowed me to establish a thriving business that truly makes a difference. I am proud to have taken this risk, as it demonstrates the power of following one’s dreams and pursuing a fulfilling career.
