Today we’d like to introduce you to Babak Bijarchi.
Babak, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Several years ago, I was stuck at a dead-end job and bored out of my mind. I need a challenge and my job at gateway computers wasn’t providing that. I had a great friend of mine who was a mortgage broker whom I referred business to on an ongoing basis. He was always thankful for the leads. Once, at a party, I told him how bored I was and that I was looking for a new opportunity that gave me a challenge and let me be my own boss.
He showed me the ropes then sat down with me and asked if this was the challenge I was looking for… Helping people buy and finance their dream homes, work one on one with them, and no demanding boss other than myself…I couldn’t have yes, any faster. That was 2001. I worked with him and he became one of my best friends and colleague. In 2013 we both decided once again, that it was time for me to spread my wings. I need more challenge, more independence, and a bigger role in my client’s needs. I took a HUGE leap of faith in myself and my abilities, and opened B Squared Funding in January 2014.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening your own business, that 1st year, is where you learn the ropes…the massive amount of paperwork and record keeping that goes with it…the part that is a required but never as much work as I anticipated.
I’ve been in the mortgage broker business for several years prior to launching my own brokerage, so I didn’t have a lot of startup challenges associated with a new business. What I did have was a huge curve in keeping my clients reassured that it was still me, just a new company name.
That first year out, trying to juggle all aspects was the most challenging (marketing, advertising, client follow up, answering calls, paying bills, and origination to funding of loans) and I could have used a hand. That’s when Mom popped in and helped organize and get me on track…. never underestimate the power of organization and support in your parents!
B Squared Funding – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a small boutique mortgage brokerage. I arrange financing for my clients who are looking to purchase or refinance their dream home or to refinance their current homes.
I’m well known for my level of service and expertise. I treat each and every client (and potential clients) as if they were a friend, because we become so! Their wants, desires, and needs become mine and I take it all very personally.
The big banks and I match rates and fees, but working with me, the deal sealer is the level of service. My clients have access to me 24/7 via texting, calling, and email. I never let anyone down. Their success is my success.
My biggest sense of pride comes in accomplishing the goals of my clients, because their goals become mine.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Starting out on my own and having those trusted realtors, clients, affiliates and family follow me, support me, and trust me. Support from those around me is what helped me make the successful business I have today.
