Exploring Life & Business with Vanessa Zabari of The Tap Rebels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Zabari.

Vanessa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a professional choreographer, dancer and educator. I have been teaching and choreographing for over twenty years. My passion is inspiring the next generation to be GREAT. I’m originally from Ohio, I moved to Atlanta twenty years chasing after my dream to be a dancer. I have taught, choreographed, judged competitions, performed and toured. I’m very grateful for all the amazing blessings I continue to get. I started the first professional tap company in Atlanta in 2018 with my best friend and artistic director Mary Beth Stinson. We were blessed to perform at the Dubai Expo last year representing the US and Atlanta. I continue to dream BIG and manifest my dreams and desires! I’m a true entrepreneur striving for generational wealth. I continue to grow my businesses and live life to the fullest.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’m thankful for all the ups and downs because I appreciate the journey. The journey is what makes you stronger. I have learned to fall in love with the journey because in life you have ups and downs, highs and lows and you have to keep pushing no matter what happens. When I moved to Atlanta, I just knew I was going to be dancing for Janet Jackson, God had a different plan for me. In that process, I learned that I was a great teacher and choreographer and to focus on what God’s vision for my life to be. I believe in manifesting all my heart’s desires and that is what I strive to do every day. Speaking life into myself and my children’s life.

Founded in 2018 by Vanessa Zabari, The Tap Rebels is a professional dance company exclusively focusing on the discipline of Tap. Its mission is to create, to present, to preserve and to extend the electrifying art of tap dancing, through exciting performances and educational programming of the highest quality, presented to the widest possible audience.

The Tap Rebels, Atlanta’s only professional tap company, has a clear mission of “bringing tap back”. To tap dancers, tap never left, but often forgotten about in the dance community. The company believes in keeping tap alive through performance, education, and innovation. The Tap Rebels’ mission is to inspire tap dancers by traveling around the world by teaching and performing tap.

The Tap Rebels offer classes, merchandise and our YouTube series educating dancers on the art of tap dance.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up dancing from an early age and I absolutely loved spending time with my family and friends. My childhood best friend Desi and I used to get together and make up dances and learn all our favorite videos from our favorite singers! I always had an outgoing personality, a social butterfly! I literally grew up dancing almost every day at my childhood dance studio, Pinnell Dance Centre. It truly shaped me to be the person I am today! I also was a competitive cheerleader from 7th grade to senior year. I also took acrobatics growing up as well.
